Hello everybody, I need some help to find a suitable hypothesis
testing solution...
To make my problem clear, I give you and example. Imagine my
hypothesis is that firms in City A are more profitable than firms in
City B. So, I took firms A(1)...A(n) from City A and firms B(1)...B(n)
from City B as my samples, and I evaluate their profit for years 2000
to 2010. So I would have kind of a panel data like this:
2000: A(1) = Profit(2000,1) , A(2) = Profit(2000,2) ............. A(n)
= Profit(2000,n)
2001: A(1) = Profit(2001,1) , A(2) = Profit(2001,2) ............. A(n)
= Profit(2001,n)
.
.
.
2010: A(1) = Profit(2010,1) , A(2) = Profit(2010,2) ............. A(n)
= Profit(2010,n)
Now, I don't know how to test my hypothesis! Where I get confused is
that I have years involved, but I do not want to make a regression to
predict what's going to happen in 2011 for example. I just want to
test my hypothesis. If all of data was just for one year, it would be
easy cross-sectional. Can I ignore just the years? What should I do?
I don't know it, probably because I'm not very good at statistics,
hope somebody here can guide me.
Thank you all in advanced and best regards,
Davar
