Split-plot model * 2 years

I'm using a split-plot in a complete block design to analyse plant
biomass data with 2 nitrogen treatments (main plot) and 16 cultivars
(sub-plot) with 3 replicates/blocks.
This experiment was replicated over 2 year and I'd like to analyse the
year effect as well as the cultivar * year interaction.
Would any of you give me a guidance on how I build this new model? In
particular I'm getting a bit confused on which MS term the F ratio of
the year*cultivar interaction should be calculated.

The agricultural terminology escapes me -- I've never understood
how it relates to crossing and nesting. If you can say what the
factors are, what their crossing and nesting relations are, and
which are fixed vs random, then getting the expected mean squares
and the error terms for the Fs becomes a fairly mechanical task.
