You know what I'm thinking. There is a lot of 'partnerships' stuff going on
but not much real hardware being made. Kind of the equivalent of vapourware
in the software industry.
Also, this business on the James Webb Telescope. How long is the
telescope supposed to last? One assumes that it needs some kind of advanced
cryogenic system to keep things cold enough to be sensitive enough to be of
any use. How is this being done? If by a heat pump of some kind, surely it
will wear out and if by supplied coolant it will certainly run out.

The cryogenics will receive some assistance by placing the Webb
Telescope in the L2 Lagrangian point, witch is in the Earth-shadow of
our sun.
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrangian_point )

In other words: The temperature effects of the sun are far less on Webb
than on Hubble

You didn't think that PORK to the space industry would stop when NASA
stopped manned space flights, did you ? Those companies will continue to
receive *their* share of tax dollars.

I notice that its the usual suspects, with a few new ones thrown in as a
distraction.

It is not. See the L2 section of that article. See also in section

It is considered best to have the Webb assembly in a constant-
temperature situation, rather than partially shaded.
