I still say it is rubbish from martians who were making out and were
surprised when the rover arrived. Wonder if NASA will ever release the
footage of martian porn :-)

In one of the colour images I saw, it looked almost like a metalic CO2
cartridge standing up.

Would there really be much plastic on a vehicle that has to endure very
extreme temperatures every day ?
