So some activity I thought, but I see its another rather radical person with
no doubt a point which eludes me..
Anyway, I see an item in the news group about five segment solids and new
nozzles etc. So these devices are still on the books for the heavy lift
vehicle. Not sure how practical that really is.

It's not. Given NASA's budget, even if the HLV is developed, there will
be little money for actual missions. This is now a program designed by
the politicians to keep spending money in all the "right" congressional
districts.
