Here is Henry's take on the idea:

Sorry for slow response -- your mail came when I was out of town.

No problem, feel free. And no need to remove the address(es) -- they're
public knowledge.
My basic take on it is that it would be really neat to do it, but I'm not
sure we can swing it. For all that we were fond of Pat, there are
probably a hundred or a thousand other people whose names would come to
SpaceX's collective mind first... especially since a lot of its management
is ex-NASA types. What we need for this is a company run by people from
the space-enthusiast community, who'd be receptive to the idea of a
memorial for a departed enthusiast. Even so, there'd be others in line
ahead of Pat, e.g. G. Harry Stine.
Obviously there's no chance of getting Pat's name on one of the early
high-profile Dragons. Later on, when things are more routine, it's not
inconceivable, but I think it absolutely depends on having a contact or
two within SpaceX who'd be willing to propose it. Barring the remote
possibility that they eventually throw naming open to public nominations
in just the right way, it's got to have an internal champion. Outside
support might be helpful, but I fear an unsolicited proposal from outside
on behalf of a name they don't recognize will go in the "cranks" file
unless it's got internal backing, no matter how many signatures it has on
it (unless one of them is, say, Barack Obama or Charlie Bolden).
Alas, I don't think I can help in that department. I've got contacts in
some of the alt-space companies, but not SpaceX.
