Origin of the solar system

Can anyone suggest a recent book on the topic mentioned, something
along the line Gamov did, but perhaps a little more technical and
including some of the recent results of probes.
Perhaps I should give my background - B.S in math and physics, and
some graduate work, but long retired and very rusty.. I would be
interested, too, in some other surveys, such as the recent mapping of
the sun's magnetic field, etc. but not much interested in gee whiz
pictures of Mars for example, for all I follow Spirit and
Opportunity's searches.
