20 Top Events in the US/Russia Space Program

In 1997, the US Postal Service will issue a sheet of 20 stamps depicting
classic US built aircraft. Now (to stay on-topic) if you were on the USPS
Stamp Advisory board - what 20 events or programs would you commemorate for
the US space program. Submit a couple or all 20.
Some that come to mind - Explorer 1, Tiros 1, Relay, GPS satellites, Ranger 7,
Mariner 4, Mariner 9, Viking 1, Pioneer 10, Galileo, Mercury program, Gemini
program, Apollo program, ...
And to be fair -if Russia were to issue a similar sheet of stamps, say in
October 1997 - what top 20 events should be commemorated for their program .
Again submit your suggestions.

7. Freedom 7/Al Shepard OR Friendship 7/John Glenn
8. Voyager missions to the outer planets
9. Gemini 6/7 rendezvous
10. Ed White's EVA on Gemini 4

OSCAR 1 - Orbital Satellite Carrying Amateur Radio. This was the
first amateur satellite. It cost $23.00 (reference: The
Satellite Experimenter's Handbook, Davidoff)
