Outlandish Particle Periodic Table update X

Hi there,
Salient features:-
Cern list of 900 experimental particle results in MeV, double
precision and mathematical (Fortran 77)
The list alone is not available anywhere-else, as a single list.
Not definitive. (Upgraded to anomaly) see pairs below.
42 year scientific project, by ex-Mensa member. (They stopped
concessionary subscriptions)
10 year ago table basis was electron value of 227879226. (update X
gives 8714310153)
Thank you,
Tony Lance

If you need an explanation of this table, we cannot help you.

If you'd like a cite from CERN as the source of some of the entries in this
table, we cannot help you.

If you are wondering why this is posted to sci.space.history as opposed to
sci.physics, I cannot help you.

Tony Lance is one of the original sci.space.* netk00ks. He's been around
almost as long as Pat Flannery, but at the moment I can't find any "Big
Bertha" post from him before about 2000:

Careful there. Don't lump him in with Pat. Pat was at the very least,
among many things, entertaining.

Oh, please. One would need to be terribly dense not to understand what I

I've been around longer than anyone on these groups now, and I don't
remember anyone named Tony Lance. However, I have already labled him a
troll for posting the very same thing on sci.space.shuttle.

Hi David, Jorge, Greg, Alan, Fred and Paul,
I was sorry to hear about the retirement of the Space Shuttle
programme. It was a sad blow to manned space exploration.
The American politicians did not want any taxes without
representation issues raised in outer space.

I have been posting to newsgroups since 1997.
I first arrived here in hot pursuit, not by invitation.
Checkout the inmates of my most wanted list. (see link)
http://www.bigberthathing.com/want04.html
sci.space.shuttle gets an honourable mention.
The earliest time on my website that it gets mentioned
in dispatches is Date: 8 Sep 2001 22:08:25 -0000 (see link)
http://www.bigberthathing.com/thread.html
I would not want to intrude where I have not posted before.

1997 isn't very long ago for Usenet News. I've been on Usenet very
nearly a decade longer (since 1988 or so). There are several posters
here that have been around at least that long, since they were
considered "old timers" when I was new. ;-)

A search of Google Groups seems to indicate that "Alan Erskine" first
appeared on Usenet (sci.space.shuttle) in 2003 using the email address
alane...@optusnet.com.au.

I've been around since about 1988 (first account was
fin...@gn.ecn.purdue.edu). Google Groups is being a p.i.t.a., but it
looks like the earliest archived postings they have from that email
address date back to 1991.

Speaking of '86...

Yeah, my earliest posts stem from 1989 according to Google, but I had been
posting responses to Henry to sci.space, sci.space.tech and apparently
comp.arch long before that (found an exception: see below). This all happened
in the early-to-mid 80s when my company got a dialup UUNET feed and one of our
OS developers setup a newsgroup host.

Then I got busy and drifted away for many years....

Thank goodness Henry kept backups or we likely wouldn't even have the DejaNews
aka Google archive back to 89.

But for all you youngsters out there: here's a sample of the old days from
comp.arch:

Scroll down a bit after Henry's post about the VAX-11/780.

Purdue was running its Engineering Computer Netowrk (which is why there
was a ".ecn" in my purdue email address) on VAX-11/780's running Unix
when I was posting in the late 80's. We were using antiquated monocrome
terminals that didn't even have numeric keypads in our computer "labs".
It wasn't until the early 90's that PC and Mac computer labs became
common.

Ah the good ol' VAX.

"When you care enough to steal the very best..."

Wish I'd bought a copy of ECKAC for the VAX-11/750 on microfiche,
would have been a nice souvenir.

I have heard of Big Bertha; the real thing (as real as it was) and this
guy, now that you mention it. Haven't seen the name before, so didn't
recognise it and didn't make the connection.

I used a VAX computer (dumb terminal) in early 1995. All I can remember
is the orange text on the screen and how hard it was on the eyes.

Hi David, Jorge, Greg, Alan, Fred and Paul,
In 1972 I used a Xerox Sigma with the Comshare firm for Fortran.
It had 84K of free core, in my partition. (Mainframe)
In 1997 I used Janet to post Battle to sci.astro with files.
Drexel now uses Web2 for newsgroup postings with files.
15 years and back to where we started.

I didn't make the claim to big-mouth myself; it was simply an
illustration of how long I have been on these groups. What was your excuse?

I can't recall when I first started reading/posting. I believe it was around
1989 when RPI setup it up so that their *FORUM software on the mainframe
running MTS started exchanging articles with Usenet.

(speaking of which, I've got some friends from RPI working on getting an
image of MTS running in a VM now. Runs a bit faster on a VM now than on the
actual hardware back then. :-)

Same is also true for DTCyber. What fun it was getting that up and going on a
PC and having it be faster than the CDC-6600 it emulates!
