Last single astronaut launch by a National Space agency?

I'm trying to compare with what they had as the setup for the TV Buck
Rogers...

What is the last flight where the United States/NASA only put *one*
person into space in a launch.
Was it the last of the Mercury flights?

What is the last flight where any National Space agency only put *one*
person into space in a lauch.

These Launches should be designed to orbit at least once.

Note, I'm excluding the X-prize efforts...

Mercury for US. Chinese just did it a few years ago

X-15 flight #91 with Joe Walker aboard on August 22,1963.
This reached 107.8 km altitude, which qualifies as being in outer space
by FAI rules.
It didn't orbit though, so if you are using that as your standard it
becomes Gordon Cooper in Faith 7 on May 15, 1963.
