Uh...you've been trolled, dufus. But, I enjoyed this troll, and I
enjoyed watching you squirm, too. :0

Are you really at 40,000 feet?? "Captain, we've got another
stowaway, and this ones armed with a laptop!"

What is TRolling? I'm not quite sure. But I know for certain that
if you reply to this post, your laptop will self-destruct. Don't

What are you laughing at -- you missed the mark. You wrote a straight news

CASSINI LAUNCH SUCCESSFUL, ACTIVISTS TO SUE

Anti-nuclear activists today announced that they would be filing suit in
Federal court, in the wake of the launch "without a hitch" of the Cassini
space probe.
"The announcement of the successful launch is an attempt to discredit
our movement, and is therefore libellous", a spokesman said. "It's part
of a conspiracy designed to conceal the true hazards of nuclear
radiation."

The activists are also calling for Congressional hearings to investigate
whether the launch really was as successful as the announcement said. The
spokesman pointed out that, since the anti-nuclear protesters had all fled
the area prior to the launch, "we only have NASA's word that the rocket
didn't actually explode, and they have an obvious interest in saying they
were successful no matter what. For all we know, they could at this very
moment be covering up the worst catastrophe in human history".
If these efforts are unsuccessful, the activists will wait until the 1999
flyby of Earth. If NASA announces the maneuver to have gone as planned,
the activists will again demand Congressional hearings to investigate the
truth of NASA's announcement.
If they are still unsatisfied, the activists will sue all parties who
worked to make the mission successful, on the grounds that those parties
conspired to deny the activists a chance to prove the truth of their
claims about the hazards of nuclear materials.

Do you feel better now? Good. Anyway, I made it quite clear
that I thought this was a troll, and you confirmed my observations.

You would have had my going, however, if you had managed to
include an obscure source of some kind. Frager uses Amalgamated
Press, so in the future, if you're going to troll, try and
get it right the first time.

No suprise that Frager is smarter than you...

You should have included a smiley -- this is so believable that it's

Let me get this straight. If I'd made up a fake source to go along with
my fake article, you would have BELIEVED it??? You actually would have
ignored how manifestly implausible it was? Your critical thinking ability

Tell me, does Frager's use of a fake source disguise the fact that HIS

Hi Kurt. I'm sorry, but you didn't get it straight. If you had made
up a fake source, your audience, IMO, would have believed it, not me.
I was merely making a critical observation regarding your so-called
parody, which btw, I did in fact enjoy. Nice job.

No. You missed the point. The fact that Frager uses fake sources
makes the article FUNNY.

What is so frightening about this, is this is the way some
people actually think.

I'm afraid Kurt that your parody is too close to reality.

It's so close to reality that some people on this very newsgroup

Just a suggestion. Even though your title, "Watch for it," suggests
you are making a prediction, (facetious or otherwise), you could have
been more specific in your introduction. You could have said
something like, "Let's see if they do this now...."

Also, when you include a quote and "a spokesman said," it tends to
make the article seem more authentic.

Finally, there are advocate groups which have said and done things
at least as stupid as what you satirize. Don't be surprised if it
actually happens!
