Glenn Milne says it's not just people with millions to bet who don't believe
the scares:

Tony Abbott's instinct is that voter sentiment has shifted and is shifting
on the ETS, a softening that has been picked up in private Liberal polling
over the year and in particular within the Liberal base.

"The party rank and file are on fire about this," says one anti-ETS
frontbencher. "You should see the emails I'm getting on a daily basis."

But you don't need emails or private political polling to tell you this.
Four Corners' recent episode dedicated to the ETS referred to polling
analysis it had commissioned by the firm CPI Strategic.

That analysis ought to be required reading for those Coalition MPs uncertain
of which way they should jump on any Macfarlane-Wrong deal.

After poring over all the leading published surveys, CPI concludes of
climate change: "The trend over the past 18 months has seen a significant
softening in concern for the issue.

"Given the Lowy Institute, Newspoll and the Climate Change Institute data
all show the same trend the conclusion that there has been a drop in public
concern for the issue seems inescapable."

Critically CPI say that when it comes to choosing which party is better able
to address climate change between 40 per cent (Newspoll) and 58 per cent
(the Climate Change Institute) have slipped into the "someone else/don't
know/ both the same/no opinion/no difference" category.

In other words voters are increasingly doubtful and have begun to park
themselves in the "don't know" area.

And the trend is all one way.

"It is a remarkable fact that despite the worldwide expenditure of perhaps
US$50 billion since 1990, and the efforts of tens of thousands of scientists
worldwide, no human climate signal has yet been detected that is distinct
from natural variation."

When the voters finally realise how many developing countries are
putting their hands for fo the "send us lots of your money" scam ,
which you owe us thanks to "climate debt.", the enthusiasm will take
another dive.

Latin American countries are now demanding that they be paid a cool
$114 billion in climate debt.
