In Civilization and its Discontents (Unhappiness in Civilization), S.
Freud wrote, "all religions are shared delusions." Since political
parties have "beliefs" similar to those in religion, to what extent
are political platforms and positions shared delusions? If not, when
can we tell if an ideology has delusional status, or is it just a
matter of opinion?

Here is the full quotation:
"A special importance attaches to the case in which this attempt to
procure a certainty of happiness and a protection against suffering
through a delusional remoulding of reality is made by a considerable
number of people in common. The religions of mankind must be classed
among the mass-delusions of this kind. No one, needless to say, who
shares a delusion ever recognizes it as such."

Well, Politcal Parties rely almost exclusively on the Popular Media
to Progagate their beliefs. Which is also why the people who
understand
more about media, technology, and science than baseband radio
even started working on fields such as AI, DSP, Digital Computers,
Digital Books,
Satellites, Solar Energy, neo Wind Energy, Lasers, Masers,
Microwave Ovens, Microwave Cooling,
Thermo-Electric Cooling, Fiber Optics Systems, Self-Replicating
Machines, Self-Assembling Robots,
Holographics, Digital Terrain Mapping, On-line Banking, Desktop
Publishing,
On-Line Publishing, Biodiesel, Hybrid-Electric Energy. Cyber
Batteries, Home Broadband,
HDTV, Cruise Missiles, Autonomous Vehicles, Drones, PGP, Atomic
Clock Wristwatches,
Nanotech, Optical Computers, Reverse Compilers, Rapid Prototying,
Genome Projects, Cloning, and all the subjects they yakk about
today.
