In case Christmas music has really fucked
your ear-drums :) ...

Here are links to some authentic and ancient
Iranian music. These are not Southern or
Bandari music that I had posted some time
back. They're one type among many forms of
Iranian music (this one is in "bayAt" and
"afshAri" keys) which I will slowly give
links for you to hear and study (and enjoy).

The introduction is light and lengthy and you
have to be patient. Don't skip it. The heart
of the music starts when the singing begins
(in second link) and continues for a long
time. I'm sorry I could not find the link to
the 6th part.

I don't know how a set of ears unfamiliar
with Iranian classical music meets this. But
to aid you at least a bit so you won't be
totally lost, this type of music is very
concentrated and does not belong to moods in
which you'd like to dance or have fun. And if
you will, the general tone and disposition of
these two keys is that of questioning,
scrutinizing, and contemplating on
bewildering observations.

All lyrics are in Persian written by Hafez
and Mowlana.
