physical but rather existential. Do catch up and all this nonsense may stop.

You're right about street mean thing but you attach it
to a condition of poverty. That's not so in Iran. Even
the wealthy in Iran grow up via a street system we have
in Tehran (and other cities as well) that leads to a
degree of maturation beyond most of you Americans can
get.
