Nevertheless; being Chinese; and being a racist seems to be part of
their culture which goes back thousands of years; long before the
invention of communism.
China is a big place. ... I mean 1.3 billion people who ALL have the
same cultural identity of 'Chinese'. Don't you think that is a
remarkable accomplishment; to say; to claim; to INSIST that 1.3 billion
people are the SAME CULTURE? Look at how intensely China continues to
assert that Taiwan is still part of China.
In short, the very essence of Chinese culture is to assert that a huge
and diverse population of individuals are all part of the same group.
It is almost; as if; racism itself defines Chinese culture.
My friend said that the Chinese were the most racist people on earth
because they center all their focus around the family. It is not the
town, city, province or empire that a person is deferential in regard.
No sir; it's much closer to home. Racism starts at home and doesn't get
much beyond the extended family.
Perhaps, this is what gives those with a Chinese cultural background
the appearance of being very polite and servile on the one hand and
being very self serving and xenophobic on the other hand.
I don't know what the answer is in more detail, Tom. Nevertheless; what
ever that answer might be; the notion of being Chinese and the notion
of racism seem to reside in close proximity.
Who knows; perhaps the Chinese culture has the problem of an individual
personal identity within a collective common whole solved? It never
was that 'Communism infected China'; it was more akin to being that
'communist ideology' was convenient and amenable to the Chinese
cultural essence.
Whatever the case; with the current move to embrace capitalism and the
individual pursuit of wealth; time will show whether or not Chinese
culture is better or worse suited for melding individual interests to
the societal good.
I guess that you are seeing with your own eyes; the ongoing development
and progress of that experiment; first hand!

where they go to the graves of their loved ones,

A friend of mine, who loves lobster,

The compresor is a small 1/2 incj pipe up the side of the cyclinder and
when the cylinder fires the water is forced up the tube and when the
exhaust opens the water falls back down the tube and a compresor head
is at the top of the tube .
