There is Life on other planets.

Everyone in the 'scientific community' repeat after me...

There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets

go on..

There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets

All together now..

There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets
There is Life on other planets

Nevermind that there is not
a single shred of evidence that Life exist elsewhere.

Nevermind that there is no
proof that Life exist elsewhere.

This could happen any day soon..
This could happen any day soon..
This could happen any day soon..

You must continue the Faith
You must continue the belief

Gather together and hold hands
and repeat:

"There's a ship coming"
"There's a ship coming"
"There's a ship coming"

And in that ship will be...your Salvation.

So, nevermind that there is not
a single shred of evidence that Life exist elsewhere.

Continue your search for Life elsewhere..even if you haven't even
figured out what "Life" is...or even defined it..

You must continue to have..Faith.

I will die for you so that you can have the freedom to practice your...religion.

There is Life on other planets. You don't need proof or evidence, just have faith.

"There's a ship coming...This could happen any day soon"

And in that ship will be...your Salvation.

Just wait for the evidence, like most scientists do.

This "faith" is all the 'scientific community' has left...

Faith is the belief that something is true, real, or will happen.

Waiting for the evidence is just like waiting for Jesus Christ to return.

Two hundred thousand years have passed since people existed, and
still no proof, no evidence that there is Life on other planets.

Maybe the way you do it, but if so, you're doing it wrong.
Waiting for Christ assumes there is a Christ, and that "he'll be bach"
like Schwarzenegger. Waiting for evidence doesn't assume there is any,
it merely means not making a conclusion without it. Note that
hypothetical statements aren't conclusions.

What are you going to do when your alien friends from another planet come? Are you
going to invite them to your house and show them your collection of Mozart records?

You're going to lie to them and say, "This is what we listen to on Earth."

They are going to look at your wife and say "I want some of that!"

Since these are entirely hypothetical friends of your own invention,
it would depend entirely on what would hypothetically have made us
friends. Mozart is unlikely.

: You're going to lie to them and say, "This is what we listen to on

I can't think of *any* hypothetical circumstance where I'd say that.
Seriously, what could *possibly* make me want to say such a bizarre thing?

: They are going to look at your wife and say "I want some of that!"

That would hypothetically be up to her. I suspect she'd quickly
become un-friends with them. She doesn't much go for the objectification
thing. But hey, if that's what gets *you* off, good luck with it,
and enjoy your newest nadir of waste-of-oxygen-hood.

Scientology is *not* science. Get a grip.

Of course not. An essential facet of science is that no location or
time is "special".

What's your evidence to support those claims?

Oh, right, you have none.

> Your search for Life is just a religious belief...no

False.

> You

What's your evidence to support that claim?

Oh, right, you have none.

"Theory" does not mean what you think it does.

That's because you deliberately misinterpret science.

No scientist says that. What scientists *actually* say is "there
might be evidence, so why not look for it?".

Sounds to me like you're TERRIFIED evidence might be found and want
any and all searches for it stopped RIGHT NOW before something awful
happens.

What are you so afraid of?

> You both look like to me like religious fanatics.

That's because you're a religious fanatic, and believe everyone else
is just like you.
>
> Faith, is the same word for Theory.

Complete nonsense, even for you.

Theories are designed to be tested; the idea is to see what evidence
a theory *predicts* that could support it *or falsify it*, then go
look for *both* of those kinds of evidence. Generally, scientists look
for the falsifying sort first, to determine if the theory is worth
further time.

Faith, like YOUR faith that no life exists anywhere but Earth, has
no truck with any sort of evidence.

What is this Life you speak of but don't have?

The 'scientific community' say that there is no non-viral
carbon-based life on the other planets of the Solar System
but doesn't rule out the possibility of extremophiles on
the moons of Jupiter and elsewhere.

The extremophiles might say cyanobacteria is murder.

Of case we need a proof before we can say that there is life on other
planets.

But we don't need a proof to say that "a hypothesis that there is life
on other planets
is very likely".
This hypothesis has many pros in its favor, one of which is that there
is so far nothing
special that has been identified that would make our planet unique,
and there are plenty
similar planets already detected. New planets are being reported
almost every week now
and the reported sizes keep decreasing as detection methods improve.

Since our planet has life, and it is not any different from others,
ergo, there should be life on
other planets too. It is not a proof, but a very convincing argument
why it should be so.

Many arguments that we follow in everyday's life are indirect. For
example you don't need to jump from a building to get a proof that it
will kill you. Even though an absolute proof that it will kill you
will be constituted only by actual experiment of jumping, you will
settle
and make your decision based on the indirect arguments like Newton's
law or just "cultural DNA"
in form of your mom saying not to do it.

Same is with life in the universe. Since there are good arguments that
it is likely, we have
to take actions accordingly to best estimate, even before we find a
final proof.
Does not mean we should stop looking for such a proof, which is
likely to be
forthcoming quite soon for example based on spectroscopic analysis of
many newly found planets.
Many new powerful telescopes are going on-line and analysis methods
are improving.

Regards,
Yevgen

You wanted to raise a strawman argument so you could knock it down.

Sorry, I'd never heard of her until you posted the link.

And no, she doesn't speak for me.

And you still have no more evidence than she does.

The difference between you and her is that she actually helps look
for evidence for *or against* her position.

While all the evidence she's helped to collect is against her
position, she's still way ahead of you.

Jill Tarter announced earlier this week that she is stepping down as
director of the
non-profit SETI Institute to focus on raising money to keep the effort
going.

The chick Jodie Foaster played on the movie "Contact"...get out of that
basement already.

Okay, look up in the sky, do you see a ball of fire, that's a sun.

And again. I wrote: "I have 'proof' that Life doesn't exist on other planets, Einstein style."

You don't ask Einstein. You insult him, and you insult me when you ask for evidence. I'm just right, I'm correct.

Just take Earth
out of the equation..
remove the Earth
and what do you got?

(this stuff is simple)

Walk around the moon, alk arond mars, walk around the sun...and
there is nothing going on but a bunch of
of balls on fire and rocks everywhere.

Umm, "Contact" was pure fiction. Jodie Foster's character was an

Wow, you *are* way behind. The Sun hasn't been considered to be fire
since, oh, a couple hundred years at least.

Meaningless.

> You don't ask Einstein. You insult him, and you insult me when you ask for evidence. I'm just right, I'm correct.

No sidetracks; Einstein isn't involved.

I asked you for evidence to support your assertion that there's no
life on any other planet.

You still haven't provided any.

It's all over the Universe, but it isn't necessarily "for" anything.
That assumes a purpose, which assumes somebody to decide on that
purpose. Who did you have in mind?

The whole idea is that the faces aren't that important. Science is a
careful arrangement of techniques to disprove new ideas. If the new
idea survives the gauntlet, then it's probably correct. Does anyone
care who's manning one of the bats on the gauntlet?

Once you get hero worship, it's probably not science anymore.

That is funny. The peer review system which you call 'science' is a
vicious cycle however most people are clever enough to appreciate how
that system works and works in such a way that it advances nothing
apart from the reputations and jobs of those who are doing the
reviewing. The reason nothing is happening in terrestrial sciences and
astronomy other than scams and worthless 'definitions' is that anyone
who wants to join the empirical welfare society has to agree with
those doing the reviewing of their paper.

There is no "careful arrangement of techniques to disprove new ideas"
as you call it,there is a system to protect the old falsehoods and
what reviewer who relies for his bread and butter on a steady stream
of new students falling into line with old ideas is going to accept
new approaches and techniques when his very job depends on making sure
the 'scientific method' is protected at all costs.

Not even the most dominant political dictator has the power of the
modern 'peer review system' and only recently when 'global warming
theory' surfaced, has anyone questioned what these guys were up to and
boy !,has empiricists ever got a shock that people don;t hang on every
word they utter.

Einstein didn't theorized...he imagined.

But I see you a special case...I'll have to take you step by step,
planet by planet..

Any child in kindergarten can tell you there are no men from the moon.
This is very simple stuff..

You don't have to go to the moon to know...there are no aliens from
outer space that come from the moon.
There are no fishes or trees on the Moon. Now, ...how about Mars?

There ain't no men from Mars.
No trees, no fishes..nada!

How about Venus? I don't get it...do I have to go through every single
object in space one by one with you?

There is no Life in other planets, why is that a problem?

Maybe it's because I have *never* read a science fiction book before,
that could explain why I see things...differently.

Correct, *so far*, no life has been found on any of the other
planets (or moons, etc.) in this solar system.

What makes you think it applies to every other solar system in the
entire universe?

How do you determine the 'reliablity' of a cite? If it's on the Internet, it's realiable?? You have no idea..

Can you name one of Einstein's theory? Cause I don't recall he ever came up with a theory..

Yes, might be the stupidest thing you read all month, but the question
still stands..

Can you name *one* of Einstein's theory? Cause I don't recall he ever
came up
with a theory..maybe I'm not wording the question correctly..What is the
name of his theory that he came up with? What did
Albert Einstein call this theory of his? What did he name it? What did
he call it? I simply don't recall Einstein ever saying
"It's just a theory I have."

All I know is he built the Atomic Bomb.

Do you know what "theory" means in science?

It doesn't matter whether someone labels something a theory, or a law
or whatever. Newton's laws were scientific theories, for instance.

Bullshit. Do you know what "theory" means in science?
It doesn't matter whether someone labels something a theory, or a law
or whatever. Newton's laws are axioms, for instance. Theories
attempt to explain. Axioms are observed.

It's a set of heuristics. A fairly important one is, if a ... well,
speaking loosely, person like Starmaker backs up a sweeping claim by
saying "because I say so", don't rely on it. Not even a little.

It's an electriconic photo-finish with several others.

"theory" is just...window dressing.

Einstein had just thoughts and ideas, nothing more...

Einstein came up with
The Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies

and somebody told him.."You gotta fuckin put the word "theory" in there somewhere.."

Then he came up with "Special Relativity"...and somebody told him

"You gotta fuckin put the word "theory" in there somewhere!!!"

"How about "The Theory of Special and General Relativity?"

"Too fuckin big!!!"

"How about "The Theory of Special Relativity?"

"It's still too fuckin big!!!!"

"How about "The Principle of Relativity"?

You forgot to put in "Theory"!!!

How about..."The Theory Principle of Relativity?"

"Getthefuckoutofhereyoudummie!!"

How about "The Theory of Relativity?"

"Hey, I got another idea!"

"Don't say 'idea', say "theory"!

"Okay, I just thought of something..."

"Getthefuckoutofhereyoudummie!!"

""HOW DID YOU EVER BECOME AN EINSTEIN??"

"That's my name!

"Getthefuckoutofhereyoudummie!!"

Ya know, I bet after hearing the nurse say day after day after day
"Trust us, this medicine will put those bad thoughts out of your
head," it's gonna be natural for you to worry that everyone is saying
"Trust us" and for you to be profoundly suspicious of them. Of course,
that's what the medicine is for and so it's a shame you checked
yourself out before you were ready to rejoin society.

4 light years away is not very far,
Your radio is not im motion with it so you morons cant hear it.
without that motion you cant convert the hz and read a sig.
The shuttle is at times able to hear and read the high end fm if it
had an entena.
.
talking to another planet thats going 300,000 miles an hour away with a
ground bass dish is retarted.
even if you picked the sig out of the lowest point on radiobands your
not near the high band sent. Ut would be like a record played so slow
it would sound like fuz.

low earth orbit is just fast enouph to conect and record then speed up
when played back.
the idiots at cern dont play with radios in motion.
only one place to set the radio dial as low as it will go then make the
radio go very fast untill you hear a record on slow speed.

in about 400 langs if you growa brain enouph to tell the dumbasses why
thier shit is junk.
