"Couples only
In the case of three slits,
the calculation produces three terms
describing interference between waves
travelling through the three possible pairs of slits.
There are, however, no "third-order" terms
involving waves travelling through all three slits."
http://www.angelfire.com/geek/leech/phys114_hw1_5.html
The confusion about the double slit effect comes about
because Einstein, Born, and Feynmann
did not understand that quanta is quarter wave,
rather than full wave,
and that change is conveyed from sources to sinks
in quarter wave ACTION quanta,
NOT full wave energy quanta.
and with the help of a friendly Mass Media,
they misled the public.
Quanta appears as standing waves
between sources and sinks,
and quanta transfers occur
when there are quarter wave separations
between a source and a sink.
A short circuit or point of minimum impedance
appears a quarter wavelength away from a source,
and the maximum transfer of energy ( Actually ACTION)
occurs when the source impedance equals the sink impedance.
In a quanta situation,
the maximum of action is also the minimum of action,
and in order for a quantum change to occur,
the phases have to match up correctly and
the impedance of the source and the sink must
equal the impedance of space.
( Non space media ( Where Z <> 376 ohms) are lossy.)
In other words, a complete cycle,
or a complete electron,
does not traverse a space as a cycle,
but as quarter wave quanta of action.
Maxwell almost had this right with his
concept of "displacement" current.
Observe that the square root of minus one "i"
is the best mathematical model of action quanta.
i = one quarter wave, counter-clockwave action quanta
i^4 = one counter-clockwave cycle.
i^n = n action quanta
i^n / 4 = n cycles
Also observe that ACTION is angular displacement,
and that energy is NOT quanta,
but is affected by not only a lossy medium,
but also by the relative velocity between a source and a sink.
