hired, and only a few full blood professors, if any
at all
a lot of universities in america and germania
has no professors at all, only assistant professors
an assistant professor is meant to assist a
full blood professor, but if you dont have
a professor, what kind of assistant is that

Cuz I looked it up.
Where I went, "assistant professor" is a tenure-track but not
yet tenured faculty position. Upon grant of tenure, the
candidate becomes an associate professor (or, theoretically
at least, could go directly to full professor).

It's not "assistant to," just "assistant". Any number of people
can assist each other in an endeavor, and all be assistants.
That said, I have not seen a lot of universities in America
that have no professors. What lot were you talking about?
