Hi!

Does anyone know how big chance there is that ITER will work? What are the
main problems with the project right now?

http://motls.blogspot.com/2004/11/fusion-reactor-iter.html

Please send your answer to your e-mail, or post it to my blog. Thanks.

Best wishes
Lubos

[ Moderator's note: The following was submitted and rejected two months ago
because it is in response to a post from about 2 years ago. There was no
reason to expect the posters from the original thread to still be reading
this newsgroup and would probably not be in a position to respond.

I have reconsidered my original rejection and decided that so long as I
prefaced this submission with a moderator note alerting readers to the
time issue, more good than harm would come by approving it. -JimL ]

Lubos,

It isn't designed to be really ignited state reactor (a reactor that
reaches ignition) .. ITER is a public works project to keep scientists
employed. They are not any closer today to a working fusion reactor than
when the U.S. Gov't funded Project Sherwood in 1951-1958.

Look at a new design for a working fusion reactor at http://www.singtech.com
