Sure. It's a polymer of ethylene oxide. It is a long chain
of two carbon atoms then one oxygen atom, two carbon atoms, etc.
HO-CH2CH2-0-CH2CH2-O-CH2CH2-O- etc.
The length of the chain determines its properties. PEG is useful for a lot of
things, especially in cosmetics, because it is almost completely nontoxic, in
spite of being made from a poison gas, and because it is cheap. Its
properties can be tailored to fit the application.
