Have seen it many times, beyond emotional. Superb acting. Not really a navy
movie, but sub resembles a Tang class. Been a long time since I've seen it.

Saw the long version when it came out. Much like the short version, but real
time sweating.
Apocalypse Now
Much better in a theater. Nice patrol boat.
Enemy Below
Classic story.
The Bedford Incident
Dramatic. Sparse, focused and tense. Nice acting all around. Widmark is
excellent. I can still see the scenes where the german advisor stands alone
on the bridge. Then one of the US officers tells Sidney Poitier, "He's not
here with us right now, he's out there with them" Refering to the russian
sub.
Gray Lady Down
Odd and uneven, but in one scene the XO sacrifices himself by holding down a
couple hydraulic actuators.
The water keeps rising over his head but you still see the hands gripping
those actuators.
20000 Leagues under the Sea
Loved every minute, who cares about the fantasy. Mason does a great Nemo.
Ice Station Zebra
Saw this at one of those huge panorama theatres. A couple gripping scenes,
but generally poor plot. the scene where the sub is at 45 degrees down angle
and sinking from the open torpedo tube scared the crap out of me.
Sink the Bismarck
Not great but not bad. Also 633 squadron falls in this group.

Michael Mann did a good job in "Heat", I thought: where amazingly,
rounds fired at a carful of bad guys actually kill the driver and stop
the vehicle...
