Subject: Advice sought on CLEOCIN T -- acne treatment
A friend of mine has had Cleocin T prescribed for mild acne.
This is a trade name for a "brand of clindamycin phosphate
topical solution and topical gel".

The insert with the medication had the following warnings:

Orally and perenterally administered clindamycin has been associated
with severe colitis which may end fatally.  Diarrhea, bloody
diarrhea, and colitis (including pseudomembranous colitis) have been
reported...  Symptoms ... have been observed to begin several weeks
after the cessation of therapy.

And then there's more stuff about precautions and treatment if
colitis occurs.

So, is it worth it?  Is this stuff safe?  The insert did not give
any stats.  I would appreciate any information anyone has on this.

        Thanks,
