I have taken a new account and they pay by the word..kinda.. What you do
is type the document in Word and report what the word count is to them.
From that point you total up the number of words and divide by 11 (they
are paying by an average 11 words on a line basis at .06 a line). I
have always counted characters and not words so I am kinda confused
about this, mainly, it seems like I am losing a whole bunch of bucks.
Yesterday I typed for them for about 5 hours, lots of different formats,
bringing up their templates, letters, looking up addresses, etc and made
a grand total of about $60.00. I type well over 100 words a minute and
was doing a speciality that I know well (cardiology)(I have been doing
cardiology for about 6 years now).. I generally type at least 250 lines
an hour. Should I be looking for another account to pick up or is this
the norm. I have never worked for a "big service" before so I am a real
newbie to that world. Txs for the info and advice. Bev

That is something like a 75- to 80- character line. You're getting at
least 10% less than than you would be getting if your unit of
measurement was a character and you had a 65-character line.

Weelllll, sometimes when you start a new account it is slow for a little
bit until it becomes automatic. Those pauses to think can add up to a
lot.

There are places that pay on a different unit. What you missed telling
us is how much you get per "line," because if the rate is high enough,
it might be competitive.
