Janice, I didn't want to hijack the Idaho thread, but wanted to know if WW
is still doing the points system. I really need to go back too... I'm a
lifetime member but have (obviously) not been in a few years.

I will have the answers tonight. Someone also told me something about
red and green days or red and green food that you can eat on certain
days, but not combine. They may have been jerking me, but who knows.

I will know officially at 6 PM tonight. Just like with smoking (are you
listening Jules) I need to make these changes for the rest of my life.

I know people who have done WW on line and you may get some of the
answers there Kathy, but I think I need the accountability. If this
doesn't work, I told Jake, I need to stand on a scale for him, and that
ought to cure me of just about anything.

I definitely need the weigh in once a week. I know how to eat right and lose
weight... but without stepping on that scale with someone watching every
week, I just don't do it. I also need to start walking every single day. The
weather is improving, so that might happen. Good luck.

Ooh, I know, I know! They still have points, but they have a cool core
foods system that I just started recently (like a week ago). As long as you
eat from the core foods (and there are tons of them), you eat pretty much
all you want to stay satisfied. Go outside the core, and you get 35 points
a week to spend.

You could lose weight eating apple cores, I'm sure.

I don't know. Depends on how many apple cores you eat.

Now there's an idea I like!

P.S. I joined up too. I go to my first meeting next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Paid for 10 weeks up front so I'm in for at least that long ;)

Luckily, or unluckily depending on your view, I already had 8 prepaid
coupons that there six years old. What does that tell you.

I am still contemplating the point versus the core system. I think
that I may try core at first.

I'm not sure yet. I'm going to go in like I know nothing and just see
what's what and take it from there. Thankfully, it's right before payday,
so I can grab a gaggle of decent groceries from the natural food store over
that way.

Janice,

It will be one week tomorrow and down 6 pounds so far (I know, you're not
supposed to weigh but once a week, but I was curious!), and there are so
many foods on the core program that it's been very satisfying, so far.

If you do the core program, let me know what you think.

I wanted to drop this weight before I hit 40, but that has crept up on me,
so now I'm hoping to drop as much as I can before graduation.

Don't give up, Sandi. I have fought all my life and with exercise got
and stayed down for some time. Then I lost the exercise bug. It was a
few years, around 40, I got a good treadmill to get started again - I
think. I guess that didnt' stick. My daughter graduated high school in
98 and I wanted to get some off before her graduation from my alma
mater. I would have been 43 or so then. I started exercising again and
this time it stuck - not to obcessive degree I once was and not to
compulsion of going nuts if I missed a day, but I walk most days weather
allowing, and while I'm not thin I'm still at least 50 lbs from my
highest recorded weight. I'd like to get 10 or 15 more back off before
DD gets married in May - may not happen but it's still a heckofalot
better than having that extra 50 lbs.

My wake-up call came when the fellow I do some legal work for offered to set
up a lunch with a potential employer, and instead of feeling excited, my
first thought was, "Oh, no, I don't want them to see me like this," and when
learning who the lunch was with, my second thought was, "Oh, it's okay, she
weighs more than me." That is just a ridiculous distraction that I don't
need any more!

Well, when you lose the weight you'll be dying to have lunch with them
so they can see you!

All I can tell you is walk, start out slow if you can't go longer and
faster, and work up to at least half hour a day most days. I eat way too
many calories of the wrong kind, and just the walking - not even sure
how far right now - hopefully around 30 minutes most days - and holding.
I know if I bumped it up to 45 minutes it would help more.

I know it gets wicked hot down there so if you can afford it consider a
good treadmill. Good thing about them is you HAVE to keep up your pace
or you'll fall off! Get an ipod or tape player and get some good tunes.
You'll see it start to make your pants fit better fast!

You've gotten through law school - this should be easy <VBG>

I have this program on the X-box called "Yourself Fitness" that is like a
personal trainer, and starting tomorrow I'm going to do that. She even
yells at you if you haven't been exercising for a while! LOL

Rob also bought me a "beat pad" to play Dance Dance Revolution, where you
have to step certain places on the mat in time to the music, and that sucker
will work you out like nobody's business! I won't do it when anyone in the
room, though, as I look completely ridiculous, but it's big fun. The only
problem is that the pad is made out of that vinyl that has that chemically
new smell (most toys in the 1970s had it) and the cats go wild for it and
want to roll around on it like it's catnip!

Well, jumping over cats is more exercise! LOL. I'm sure my dogs think
I'm insane now and then when a good tune is playing.

It's called "Beat Pad" and it works with the X-Box. I think there's several
games it works with, but the one I have is called Dance Dance Revolution.

Thanks! Don't have nor want the X-box, not in to video games. Was hoping
it was a DVD or video thingy. Maybe they have one in some other type!

Hubby has expanded his geekdom to the X-box; he has it set up to do
everything from watch DVDs to surf the internet.

I'm with you; I don't do most of the new video games, although I love
Trivial Pursuit and that sort of thing, and will play Mario Kart (I'm
Toad!). I seem to only want to play Mario Kart when exam time rolls around
and I'm supposed to be studying.
