  <title type="text">beam hardening in computed tomography</title>

  I&#39;m trying to find information about how beam hardening affects CT &lt;br&gt; images as well as the ability to remove/compensate it. Through &lt;br&gt; performing a google search, I have found a description that is not &lt;br&gt; working on a medical encyclopedia maintained by GE as well as some &lt;br&gt; publications and specific projects on solving the beam hardening

  I was once sent in for a CT scan by my psychiatrist to rule out a &lt;br&gt; tumor causing my psychiatric problems. No tumor was found, but I was &lt;br&gt; wondering if the radiologist checks for other problems if the doctor &lt;br&gt; doesn&#39;t mention them? Like for example Encephalitis(inflammation) in a &lt;br&gt; part of the brain. Also is a CT scan good enough, or is an MRI or PET

You may be experiencing fragmentation, that can reallly, &lt;br&gt; really screw things up.

  We sometimes use our five GE AW workstations as &amp;quot;mini-servers&amp;quot; to our &lt;br&gt; Kodak PACS clients. We do this to occasionally view thin CT slices that &lt;br&gt; don&#39;t usually go to our main archive &amp;amp; to the Kodak workflow manager. &lt;br&gt; Our radiologists also sometimes use this to check whether ongoing MR &lt;br&gt; studies are complete when they aren&#39;t near the MR&#39;s AWs where the images
