I'm a newbie here (but am 75 yo).
I had a severe fall at a golf course on August 19/07
My MRI result said:
Summary:
".... A full thickness tear through the supraspinatus tendon is
present at its critical zone as described"
Detail:
" ... full thickness tear which measures approximately 1 cm in the
coronal plane and approximately 7 mm in the sagittal plane. The intact
portion is generally extremely thin in keeping with marked atrophy, and
estensive degenerative fraying. The teres minor and subscapularis tendons
appear intact. ..."
Question:
Any advice for me over the short or long term ???
TIA,

It needs to be fixed sorry to say and since winter is coming, now is a
good time to do it. You can rehab over the winter and play golf again
in the spring.

Sorry I haven't visited this site for several weeks :((
Thanks for your advice, but I visited an ortho three weeks ago, and he
said it to repair the rips, etc, would be like 'sewing wet kleenex' together
!
So, since I'm leaving for Arizona in a week for the winter, the ortho
instructed me to exercise daily and try to strengthen my other muscles to
accommodate the 'rotten'/atrophied/degenerative muscles/tendons.
I really would like to golf this winter and hope that these exercises
help (I don't like 'screaming in pain' on my golf swing follow-thru).
