PMS or Premenstrual syndrome Protocol:

I would recommend that you take a Calcium & Magnesium Mineral Supplement
containing 1,000 mg of Calcium (i.e., 2 to 3 tablets) and a single B-50
tablet each day with a meal. You can spread out your Calcium intake to one
tablet per meal.

You should stick to a low-fat, low-salt diet, and stay away from caffeine
(i.e., Coffee, Tea, and Cola Sodas).

Get plenty of sleep and try to go to bed and get up at the same time.

Try adding 30 minutes a day of exercise.

Either do the above all the time, or start one week before your period
starts. Continue this program during your period.

But the *real* quackery comes from people of questionable reliability who
diagnose and offer nutritional advice over the internet, without doing some
basic things like, say, taking a thorough history or performing an
appropriate examination.

When people ask for advice I give it freely.

Further, I did not perform any diagnosis (except perhaps what the question
was) nor did I treat a disease. I gave out a generic Natural Health
Treatment for a minor ailment called PMS. PMS for 18 year old females is a
normal condition, NOT a disease!

When they start paying me, I'll take a thorough history and perform an
appropriate examination.

Perhaps, starting in October.

Are you insinuating that nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps that are
more painful than broken bones are "normal" and that women who have such
severe effects just need to "learn to live with it"?
Sometimes such severe PMS-like symptoms are caused by a disease which can
be treated, but in other women it's just they way their hormones are.
It can't be "normal" to be spending 25% of your life puking and in pain.

There are medicines that can control such severe PMS, and if a doctor says
"it's all in your head" he needs to be reincarnated as a woman with PMS
from hell.

No actually I was just actually pointing out, that I can NOT be prosecuted
for practicing medicine without a license because I did NOT diagnose nor
treat a disease. But, thank you for your concern anyway.

Funny how your statement: "Only the most ignorant male would say that." is
NOT an insult to me, and to ALL males.

Funny how I have NOT mention all of the above once in this THREAD. You are

I know its the middle of this thread and I should probably
read the whole thing through before responding, but as a 31
year old woman who has spent considerable time, energy, and
money trying to deal with my PMS, I'm truly insulted that
you would call PMS "minor".

Forget about physical symptoms like bloating and
tiredness. For most of my adult life, I have had to deal
with depression and mood swings for two weeks out of every
month that have, at times, been so severe that they've ended
relationships and jobs.

I've done everything from diet and exercise to acupunture to
Prozac. I finally gave in and went on The Pill. After
trying out several different kinds, I finally found one that
reduces my symptoms to the point where I can carry on a
normal life.

I don't mind your trying to help, but please be careful how
you characterize a malady with which it's impossible for you
to empathize or fully understand.

As I stated once before, my concern was about not being prosecuted for
practicing medicine (which I didn't, because I treated only a minor
ailment, NOT a disease). But, I thank you for your concern anyway.

I thought PMS was defined as the one day a month that women get to act the
way men act all the time.

Very funny! How would you like to have debilitating
depression for two weeks out of every month?

Like my Women's Studies professor said in college: If men
had to have periods, be pregnant or give birth, there would
be a clinic on every corner.

In regard to your earlier reply: Sorry, But I don't define DISEASE as a
natural life process, like PMS is.

Furthermore, the NEGATIVES of PMS are due to just plain poor nutrition and
inadequate levels of exercise.

One POSITIVE of PMS would be immunity against heart disease.

>Very funny! How would you like to have debilitating
>depression for two weeks out of every month?

In regard to this reply: I am totally serious.

If you got depression from PMS, it is because you have poor nutrition.

Women Studies are a joke!

In regard to your sexist comments, I can reply that most women are mental.
Women did not get the blame for the original sin in bible by accident. Being
mentally unstable, by nature, is not a virtue in my book!

And, I will conclude with: Thank you for confirming that many women are
mental.

I make one objective post on PMS, and I get 3 or 4 wack-o replies from
mental females because they are ruled by their emotions to the point where
they are unable to read anything objectively.

Hello,

I have a long history of horrible periods -- cramps that keep me in bed
for 2 days and heavy bleeding, but I recently started taking some
products that have finally helped me. I have tried just about
everything (including 800mg Motrins) and this is the only thing that has
worked for me. In addition to taking a really good multi-vitamin, I
take a "cell-activator" to help in the absorption of the vitamin and I
also drink shakes that have the equivalent nutritional value of a
4000-calorie meal. So, basically, I am rebuilding my body from the
cellular level with healthy products. In addition to that, I take a
Tang Kuei supplement that includes chamomile, calcium, magnesium and
Vitamin A.

It's really important to get high-quality products or they won't help
(I've tried!). I can get some of the same products I am taking sent to
you if you're interested.

Let me know,
Amy
