Dear fellows,

does anybody know if there's a possibility to get rid of this disease after about
twenty years? Is there a specially therapy for people who are seriously ill
for such a long time?
If you know something about that please send a mail to me.

Thanks a lot

Have you been on antibiotics?  If so which ones?
If you have Lyme this is the only available method of treatment at
present.  The length of treatment time varies but I have been on
antibiotics for 3 years.  I am reasonably well while on them (preferably
clarithromycin also known as biaxin, or Zithromax) but symptoms return
rapidly if I stop taking them.
I have never taken IV meds but these are supposed to work even better
than the oral ones.
I hope you have or can find a good Lyme disease doctor.
Merry Christmas

I've had this ol' bug since the 1960's, well over twenty years.  I was
diagnosed "e.m. rash" and "european tick disease" and told it "went away
without treatment".  I've been on combination antibiotics pretty much
since 1991 and am much better than I was without them!  Wish I could say,
cured...

Sure hope you find a good lyme doctor!

Best wishes,

Dear Petra,

Not that it matters that I'm not a doctor, but I've had it for 8.5 years
and seriously doubt that we're going to get better with the currently
available/prescribed regimen.  There are drugs that will probably help,
but the research and clinical trials have not been performed.  It's a
weird bug.  But then, cancer seemed a lost battle not too long ago.

The agenda is this:  1) Expose Steere and his like-minded fellows for
what they are and 2) Get on with clinical trials for the drugs which
have shown efficacy in bacterial meningitis.

We gotta get the suckers out of our heads.  For you and me, it will
probably take longer than the newly infected.  Also, we have to keep up
our strength.  Like people that have lost senses, we have maintain what
little is left to us.  Work out.  Keep moving.  Run for you life. (Or
walk fast...)

Kathleen

.....just for the info, the 2 drugs i wrote in earlier about, Maxipime
(put out by Bristol-Myers) and Merrem (by Zeneca Pharmaceuticals) are both
indicated for the meningitis and have shown to be far above all other abx
out for getting into the CNS.  I have contacted both companies and have
the information on each of them.  Here are the numbers of each of these
companies.......if you call them they will send you the scoop on them.
Bristol-Myers:1-800-332-2056 (8-5 EST)
Zeneca Pharmaceuticals:  1-302-886-3000
