Silver, one of humankind's first weapons against bacteria, is
receiving
new respect for its antiseptic powers thanks to the growing ability of
researchers to tinker with its molecular structure.
Doctors prescribed silver to fight infections at least as far back as
the days of ancient Greece and Egypt. Their knowledge was absorbed by
Rome, where historians like Pliny the Elder reported that silver
plasters caused wounds to close rapidly. More recently, in 1884, a
German doctor named C.S.F. Crede demonstrated that putting a few drops
of silver nitrate into the eyes of babies born to women with venereal
disease virtually eliminated the high rates of blindness among such
infants.
But silver's time-tested if poorly understood versatility as a
disinfectant was overshadowed in the latter half of the 20th century
by
the rise of antibiotics.
Now, with more and more bacteria developing resistance to antibiotic
drugs, some researchers and health care entrepreneurs have returned to
silver for another look. This time around, they are armed with
nanotechnology, a fast-developing collection of products and skills
that helps researchers deploy silver compounds in ways that maximize
the availability of silver ions - the element's most potent form.
Scientists also now have a better understanding of the weaknesses of
their microbial adversaries.
One of the urgent goals is to prevent bacterial infections that each
year strike 2 million hospital patients in the United States and kill
90,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Such infections are usually treated with large doses of antibiotics
and
sometimes with repeat surgeries. They cost the U.S. health care system
roughly $4.5 billion annually, and the challenge is growing with the
spread of drug-resistant microbes.

Big Pharmas worse nightmare. A cure for most diseases (pathogen
related)
This has been known and covered up for years.
Look what they've done to this poor bastard.

The problem with nano-tweaking is that bacteria might still learn to
adapt, and there could well be unintended consequences. By contrast,
bacteria don't adapt well (if at all) to naturally-occuring
antibacterials, such as garlic, oregano, and propolis. I also think
colloidal silver as marketed today can be dangerous when consumed on a
daily basis. I do agree with use of colloidal silver as a topical, and
in cases of stomach bacterial infection (1 tbsp does the job.)

alternative to antibiotics, based on their own human studies.
Malaria Treatment
Silver Biotics™ is an anti-microbial mineral supplement that has been
and is being tested worldwide in oral human studies, against a number
of pathogens and diseases which are deadly to humans. Of special
interest are the three completed human studies from Africa, in which
the product was used as an oral intake treatment against Malaria. In
the studies, at a dosage of just two teaspoons used three times daily,
100% of the test patients were able to obtain full recovery from
Malaria in an average of just five days, with the shortest cases taking
three-and-a-half days and the longest cases taking only 10 days.
Testing after treatment showed that the Malaria protozoa were no longer
present in the blood. Additional human study Malaria tests are
currently underway. The new test results should be available in the
next 60-90 days. Copies of the three completed Malaria test summaries
are available upon request.
Cost Of Malaria Treatment

Yep PeterB garlic and oil of oregano are OUTSTANDING products.
Remember, though, the article is about a patentable variation on
silver, not a naturally occuring one. Strictly speaking, this doesn't
support use of natural medicine, it points away it.

Bull.
You're mistaken (as usual.) I never said I disagreed with the WHOs
recommendation that travellers not use artemisinin to prevent malaria.
I said it wasn't a good enough reason for people with cancer not to use
it.

Many patents are for the production of it rather than the "newness" of
the product. But yes they are making new patentable and supposedly
better forms in the delivery of silver ions.
Invision is the product I'm thinking of. China also has a silver
molecule which is suppose to effectively deliver silver ions. I've
read they have about produced about 20 silver producing molecules so
far.

Chinese float liquid condom concept
Johnny Be Good
By Tony Smith
Published Monday 21st November 2005
China's first liquid condom went on sale today after the country's
health
and drugs administration formally gave the hi-tech prophylactic the
thumbs-up,
the China Daily reports.
Dubbed the Nanometer-silver Cryptomorphic Condom (NCC), it's designed
for
female rather than male usage. The condom-in-a-can is essentially an
antiseptic foam spray that the manufacturer claims forms a physical
membrane
inside the vagina, protecting it from infection, acting as a barrier to
pregnancy and providing a lubricating effect.
It's not known who makes the NCC, but Beijing-based Chinese-Canadian
condom
maker Blue Cross Biomedical has been touting something along these
lines for
a while now.
It maintains its spray-in condom "can effectively kill gynaecological
disease pathogens such as staphylococcus aureus, Candida, coliform
bacillus,
and can prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
"It can remain in the vagina for a long time without destroying the
vagina's
chemical balance," the company adds. "Daily use of this product can
help
maintain genital hygiene and prevent infection by pathogens".
The condom's antibacterial properties presumably arise from the
nano-particles of silver incorporated into the spray. Or do they? In
South
Korea last week, the Korea Consumer Protection Board (KCPB) lambasted
local
washing machine vendors for claiming their products, which are coated
internally - not unlike... - with a nano-silver spray,
kill 99.9 per cent of germs in the wash.
Not quite, said the KCPB - it's the hot washing water that's killing
the
bacteria,
not the coating.
[our note: that is BS! water in washing machines gets *WARM* at best,
and certainly not "hot" enough to kill bacteria, etc.]
And, judging by the photo, we can't help thinking at least some
customers
will find applying the product more stimulating that actually putting
it
through its paces.
Making whether it actually works or not a somewhat moot point. ®
And just what would a "stomach bacterial infection" be?
They adapted pretty well to the naturally occurring penicillin.
food borne bacteria.
Food borne bacteria.
Every time you swallow you're swallowing a load of bacteria. The stomach
has a very acidic pH which kills nearly all of them. The illnesses of which
you speak affect the intestines, not the stomach (unless you're talking H
pylori which doesn't actually make you sick in the traditional sense of the
word).
So if you're using colloidal silver to try to combat an infection of, say,
the colon, how would that work? Does it get absorbed and have systemic
affects??? Ouch! I hope not. Does it travel unabsorbed in the GI tract
and act that way?
Penicillin is a drug derived from Penicillium chrysogenum, a
naturally-occuring mould. This is similar to a chemically altered form
of silver, which may work for a while, but won't be as effective as
natural food chemicals comprising part of the human food supply, having
evolved over the eons.
Not sure why PeterB wants to include silver in the first category (abx
are toxins from simple organisms such as the one he described above)
than in the natural food category. Silver is a natural substance in
mushrooms and boost consumption up to between 200 to 300ppm per day.
ASAP silver is per it's ingredients nothing but silver nanoparticles.
Fancy name for small particles of silver. Recent pubmed articles show
that for now, no resistance is occuring. Like chlorine, I doubt it ever
will.
It gets absorbed and has systemic effects. Ouch is when you don't have
one of the following catheters and you die of infection. Thats ouch!

Contaminated or infected catheters are a major source of nosocomial
infections responsible for >40% of all episodes of nosocomial sepsis
in acute-care hospitals. Antibiotics as well as surface modifications
with, for example, hydrogels proved to be of little value in
preventing the contamination of indwelling catheters. The even
distribution of 10(12-13) activated silver nanoparticles per gram in
various polymers, e.g. polyurethane and silicone, results in an
excellent antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of organisms
in vitro. Substantial reduction of incrustation of these catheters was
also observed. These preliminary experimental data warrant clinical
studies.

In vivo testing has also shown excellent results
Mogwaii, I'll be happy to clarify. The article is not about food-based
silver. The silver found in mushrooms is soil-derived and occurs
naturally. Silver that has been molecularly altered is a drug. The
point in nano-tweaking this material is to create a patented chemical
that can be marketed for billions of dollars.
Peter
The critical thing about the article is that it clearly refers to silver in
its long-accepted role as a (very mild) disinfectant and antiseptic. It
has no relevance whatsoever to the use of silver products internally, in an
claimed *antibiotic* role, as it was at one time strongly promoted within
alternative medicine.
Peter Moran
Which is still good for us
>Silver that has been molecularly altered is a drug.
They state the reason why it works is because it's "molecularly
altered" and then in the very next sentence they state it's been used
for centuries. Which one is it?
The article is misleading. one cannot molecularly alter a silver atom.

I believe they are trying to say silver kills new strains of
bacteria/pathogens and should therefore not be grandfathered in as a
supplement (or some such idiocy)
Absolutely.

Both forms make use of silver particles, but the nanocrystalline form
makes them into a coating for medical devices (not a drug as I said
earlier by mistake.)
> The article is misleading. one cannot molecularly alter a silver atom.
Molecules are bigger than atoms, but I think I was mistaken about the
process used in this case. The product is apparently only to be used
for treating medical instruments.

I would not consume colloidal silver anyway -- there is no good
evidence for its effectiveness or safety (except topically.) It might
be taken to prevent or reduce food borne bacteria in stored foods (a
few drops), and might destroy food borne bacteria in the stomach if
that is suspected.
PeterB
It's a disinfectant in that it kills pathogens in a different manner
than antibiotics. As to it's in vivo abilities the University of Texas
M. D. Anderson Cancer Center states that silver does indeed work in
vivo. Also keep in mind that the Vet Administration is using ASAP
silver supplements in its hospitals. A big FU to the treasonous FDA
imo.

are HUNDREDS of modern medical articles on the abilities of silver.

No, I wasn't talking H pylori. Other bacteria (like salmonella) must
transit through the stomach alive in order to reach the intestines. I
admit it wouldn't work unless the solute was taken immediately after
eating, on suspicious the food is contaminated.

I haven't seen any evidence for it.
PeterB
That is a local, not systemic, effect.
TA-DA right on.
This is still a topical or local or antiseptic use, as applies also with eye
drops and burn creams. Of course bactericidal concentrations can be
obtained when silver preparations are *directly* applied to an area. I did
not dispute that, did I? .
I challenge you to find any evidence that bactericidal concentrations of
silver can established in the human circulation, let alone in any body
tissue, after oral ingestion of the usually recommended forms and amounts
of colloidal silver. There are innumerable barriers to that happening.
Huge amounts would need to be consumed, with no present knowledge as to the
possible ill effects of such, or even whether such a colloid would not be
quickly sieved out of the blood by the liver, like any other colloid, even
if it was absorbed from the gut . There is no question that such claims
were quackery..
Peter Moran
The problem with that is why would someone eat food that is so obviously
contaminated that they would *immediately* take something in a few
minutes after eating it? It does not make sense.

CS is absorbed, or otherwise argyria would not be a problem.
I did just as you suggested. There were none, zero, zilch, nada studies
on the use of silver taken internally as a substitute for an antibiotic.
All relevant articles pertained to its use as a topical antimicrobial.
When a catheter is shoved up my penis or into my heart, I consider that
"taken internally".

These are my opinions only, but they're almost always correct.

Still, when you're talking about coating catheters with any substance, it is
a purely topical therapeutic modality.

able to state that. They state that their product helps prevent catheter

silver impregnated catheter has systemic antibiotic effects, this is nothing
more than a topical treatment to help preven infection.

You are literally correct, but it still is topical application. In CONTEXT
here, internal means systemic attributes. Semantics is dangerous unless you
have dealt with it many years.
Maybe it's not so obvious. Maybe you are on a picnic and don't get to
the food as early as expected. Maybe a terrorist forces you to eat a
stale hamburger, but relents when you beg for a teaspoon of colloidal
silver water (cleverly disguised as Intifada water.) Perhaps you keep
a spray bottle of colloidal silver and treat suspect food before eating
it. You could also try colloidal gel caps and see if they release
successfully in the intestinal tract (though I haven't seen any.)

Argyria occurs because the silver particles are too large for cellular
uptake, which allows them to accumulate in tissue. So yes, they absorb
into the blood, but aren't utilized at the cellular level.

with another use for the supplements? Keep in mind they also purchase
ASAP AGX 32 for disinfectant use.

"topical antimicrobial effects"? Tough crowd!
I see you are also dodging the silver supplement use in VA hospitals.
Whatcha think they are doing with that stuff? They already purchase
ASAP AGX 32 for disinfectant use. Can't wait to hear this.
Current size of production (silver nanotechnology) means cellular
penetration is very probable and no it does not cause argyria. Hundreds
of thousands use CS and I fail to see blue people walking about. red
herring argument/scare tactic.
Good response. Allow me to clarify my earlier remark. When the
particles in a given silver colloid are too large for uptake to occur,
there will be no benefit. It appears that colloidal generators (and
most common retail colloids) fail to provide such adequately small
particles. I just interviewed Natural Immunogenics (maker of Sovereign
Silver), and they provide a signed University assay validating product
specifications (also published on their website.) I have never tried
it, but I'm impressed they have a product with 1 nanometer sized
particles. Generally, those with renal failure are at elevated risk of
argyria, but not others. Thanks for keeping me honest.

There isn't a lot of good science on this subject, unfortunately.
You're right about the binding with CL, I've observed this myself by
simply pouring water into a colloid. I simply threw it out. I will be
interviewing Natural Immunogenics again today in more depth.

Yawn...long wait ahead....

It was purchased as a disinfectant, not to be taken internally.
Still waiting for proof...yawn...long wait ahead....
Yes we discussed the ASAP-AGX-32™ product being purchased as a
disinfectant. I freaking told you this. Now why are they buying the
SUPPLEMENT below? This is the fourth or fifth time you dodged this.
it's quite embarrassing.
Markey is a Roger Dodger by trade. It's what he does and always will
do.
PeterB
Hmmm...so the VA bought $125,000 of this substance.
http://www.bos.oamm.va.gov/cgi-bin/WebObjects/BosPublic.woa/wa/contract?number=V797P-5762x
The VA lists it as:
65 - Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Equipment and Supplies
The only one claims that it is used internally is:
http://www.pahealthsystems.com/message653691.html
Now, can you provide a scintilla of evidence that the VA purchased this
for the purposes YOU, and ONLY YOU, claims?
Well, Petey, thanks for you $0.02. However, as I pointed out, and
proved, there is NO evidence that this substance is used as claimed.
Why don't we get someone to interview them. aaaaagh thats right there's
a media blackout.
Wrong. Untrue. The websites which I referenced give email addresses of
VA employees. It would behoove you to email them and have them point you
in the right direction. Until then, you are using a non-ferrous compass.
but ya see, it's about you and ASAP. Thats how usenet ROLLS. ASAP
company carries more clout than whoever you think you are. They are
making a claim. either you disprove it or shut the hell up.
WRONG. YOU are making the claim here that the VA bought it for human
consumption. Clearly, YOU have the burden of proving it.
As for me shutting up, is that because I have backed you into a corner
where you have no way of getting out? Sure it is.

You are attributing brains to the media. They are stupid. They are biased.
Biased is always stupid.
For them to appear intelligent enough to black out something, other than
circumstantial by spin, requires that one be even less intelligent than they
are. That's very low and quite difficult.
If your right thats a whole lotta stupid.
verging on mental retardation i would think. perhaps it's not Big

What they were doing in Africa is using the populace as laboratory animals.

Radiation Burn Study Released
April 30, 2004
ALPINE, UT, April 30 - American Biotech Labs has released a thousand
bottle study from a US cancer care facility, using the ASAP Solution(R)
to treat radiation burns. The study found the product to be effective
in treating radiation and other burns.
Faster Recovery From The Burns
Radiation burns from cancer treatment are most commonly found in areas
of sensitivity including the groin, perineum, chest, breasts, and neck
etc. In the study, the ASAP Solution(R) delivered an instantaneous
cooling effect when sprayed on the burn. The product promoted faster
healing and reduced recovery time. When used prophylactically, the ASAP
Solution(R) delayed the onset of radiation-induced epidermitis and
mucusitis. In addition, the study reported that the product is
effective at treating other types of burns including chemotherapy and
fire or heat induced burns. The study is continuing.
No Adverse Effects
No adverse effects were found in the use of the product on burns. The
doctor noted: "Two-thirds of the patients rave about the product and
ask for more as long as the problem for which it is given exists!"
Unique Advantage
Because the product has been proven non-toxic, the ASAP product has a
strategic advantage over other burn care products. It can be used
orally to treat burns inside the mouth and throat, where other products
cannot be used.
What it All Means
Strategically, the company is positioning itself as a one-stop-shop for
national defense and on-site emergency care situations. The Solution
has already received two EPA disinfectant approvals, with the proven
ability to kill the deadliest bacteria that exist. With validation from
the new radiation burn and human wound care studies, not only can the
products be used to clean up infected sites, the same products can be
used to treat on-site victims of an attack or emergency.
Note: JML Health, Inc. owns and operates www.asapsolution.com and is
the exclusive distributor of ASAP products from American Biotech Labs.

Could you clear something up for me?
If a company issues a media release promoting its products, is the media obliged to do a
story about it?

Correct. What you have posted is just a yarn, sales hype, unverifiable.
No. Lots of things kill HIV. Household bleach. A hot day in the sun, for
all you know.
If it was shown that ingesting this killed HIV, then it would be news.
However, so far, that has NOT been done.
Ah but it has.
Products Developed To Kill Viruses And
Antibiotic Resistant Strains of Bacteria
In 1993 DEDI developed a particular mineral product which inhibited or
killed every form of virus, bacteria and fungi it was tested against.
Also review AIDS/HIV - Is There A Cure?, and Cancer - Is There A Cure
at the top of this page.
This specifically engineered silver mineral encompassed by a specific
protein was fully perfected by 1995 and proved lethal against
antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, and every virus it came in
contact with, without any adverse side effects at all.
Although, DEDI had developed a rough form of this product in 1993,
which revealed the potential effectiveness; without the help of Dr.
Willie Burgdorfer of the National Institute of Health (NIH), the
product would never have been developed to its highest effectiveness.
With the information gained from Dr. Burgdorfer; DEDI redesigned the
mineral product to Dr. Burgdorfer's specifications, which now brought
forth a product which, at varying strengths, was deadly against
bacteria, viral and fungal infections.
The laboratory test results, animal test results and human trial
results, revealed the following regarding infectious diseases:
1. Very effective against AIDS/HIV
2. Very effective against Lyme Disease
3. Very effective against Hepatitis C
4. Very effective against Shingles
5. Very effective against Staphylococcus Aureus
6. Very effective against sinus infections
7. Very effective against ear infections
8. Very effective against acne, boils, rashes, lupus and burns.
9. Very effective against strep throat
10. Very effective against food poisoning
11. Very effective against fungal infections to include infections
under finger and toe nails
12. Very effective in promotion of healingwithout excess scarring
tissue remaining.
13. Possibly effective against leukemia, as tests were underway when
DEDI was forced out of business and the President imprisoned which were
revealing: That leukemia was not a cancer, but caused by some unknown
virus or bacteria. A doctor conducting trials upon 2 terminal leukemia
patients reported to DEDI that the white/red blood cells had normalized
in the two leukemia patients he was treating. After 3 months of
treatment they were off dialysis and were A-symptomatic.

I like looking up things. The Internet is my home.
Since we are going out late tonight, I decided to take a look at the
hospitals that are mentioned here. Nothing like going straight to the
source.
I found:
http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/health/hospitals.php
What is MOST strange is that those three hospitals are NOT on the list.
However, the phone book for Ghana lists the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
in Ghana. I find it most curious that the sales hype actually misspelled
the name of one of the hospitals where the studies are being performed.
If they cannot get that right...
BTW, the other two hospitals appear to have unlisted phone numbers.
I cannot explain this, can you?
I also looked up the doctors:
Dr. Sackey
Address:
Principal Vet. Surgeon
70-5th Av. Ext. -Cantonments
Accra Telephone: 21) 400032
Types of Business: Veterinary Doctors
Veterinary Surgeons
I found only one Dr. Sackey.
Seems there is a credibility problem....
Hmmmmm????
Just for a laugh, I mention that even Ghana has its Herbalife critter:
Herbalife I.D.
East Airport
Accra Mobile: (024) 4250310
You neglected to post the URL. Here it is:
http://www.discovery-experimental.com/home_page.htm
Do you really believe this guy? Where are the clinical trials and were
the results peer reviewed?
Keep trying. One day, you will understand what evidence is.

Hmmm. Why were they on dialysis? Dialysis is not a treatment for leukemia.
And why were these "tests" not published? Note that the DEDI president,
James T. Kimball, is NOT a doctor nor a scientist, and has no authority or
qualifications to be conducting medical research.

Are you telling me this is a lie?
As the hospitals don't seem to exist and the researcher seems to be a vet, I suppose he is
telling you that it is a lie.
Why would hospitals have unlisted telephone numbers?
If my local AIDS prevention organisation advises drug users that household bleach kills
HIV even better than silver, that's news. But, of course, no newspaper would print that
because you can't patent bleach.

Yep. It's a lie. Are you saying that anything said before a congressional committee must
be true?
Perhaps you might like to reread your last line before suggesting that someone else makes
a point.
I realise that dunderheads like you have difficulty with abstraction (which is why you
think that press releases equate to publication of scientific research), but the point I
was making is that the newspapers gave great coverage to the story about bleach killing
HIV because it was NEWS. I am sorry if sarcasm and hyperbole are beyond your ken.
Overcrowded?
