This group has become VERY disappointing... Lay off Dr. Chung

It has deteriorated into a pissing contest between Dr. Chung and
several others.
Here are some opinions from someone who has been lurking but never
posted here before:
I think it is terrific that lay people have online access to a real
cardiologist. Try calling your cardiologist and getting answers to
specific questions any time you want. Good luck!!!
Plus many people do not even have a cardiologist.
Why attack the man? What has he done to deserve being flamed like
this? He has provided detailed documentation about who he is, what
his credentials are, and what he believes in. If you do not agree
with specific things he recommends that's one thing, but to personally
attack him is silly.
Why does Dr. Chung respond to each and every stupid flame and attack?
My advice to the doctor would be to totally ignore anything other that
patient requests for information about medical conditions.
The argument that more ethical doctors would never participate in this
type of group is nonsense. Most don't have the time or the interest.
Those that do should be encouraged not discouraged.
From what I have seen Dr. Chung only provides general advice and when
appropriate tells people to see a doctor face to face for a proper
consultation.
I have never read what is the 2 pound diet.
Dr. Chung is not trying to sell anything. That in itself, to me,
indicates his integrity.
Keep up the good work and ignore the idiots.

I'm not an unbiased supporter of anyone or any one diet. But I will say this
about the "two pound diet": it is simple enough for the average Joe to follow.
Yes, there are exceptional cases -- the person who wants to eat 2 lbs of
chocolate, for example. But a goal seems to be: make people THINK about how
much they are eating, by giving them something to quantify. The average US
dietician table -- "250 calories per cup" -- just gives the average person too
many ways to cheat, and if you start to talk to people about grams of protein
etc., you will lose your audience very quickly. Perhaps the biggest problem
doctors face, is simple non-compliance. And, I know people who are very good
about knowing how many calories there are per cookie they consume -- they are
just very bad at keeping count.

Even if I take the time to use those options, the average reader does not, else
the threads would die out; and the threads may serve as a distraction from
meaningful posts.
I don't visit this forum that often; but when I do, I have to sort through a lot
of threads, most new since I last visited, most low on signal-to-noise. Some
"good" threads (good in terms of carrying a larger than average signal-to-noise)
contain a large fraction of "oh yeah? sez who?!" posts that are pretty
distracting.

the world must revolve around........ i bet my 3,000 calorie a day diet with
a 5 mile walk every night pisses him off no end
i LOVE........... NOT his manner on alt.support.diabetes where most
diabetics are learning to eat low carb veggies rather than potatoes and rice
for their mainstay
bp down to 125/85........ pulse still high at 95....... hoping for
better..... doubt reducing food will work while i weigh 125 lbs
