How about fasting ? Read about it. Have a friend assist you in the
first three days. Your urge to eat will drop off after the third
day and it will be smooth sailing thereafter on a calm ocean under a
blue sky.

I did a very similar diet to fasting (eating only proteins) for 4
weeks. It was wonderful and empowering. I exercised moderately and
found my muscles returning..

It's taken 30 years for me to gain the weight back. It's true
that 5 years after the diet, I discovered what I consider is the
ultimate diet (to which I would affix my name and write a book if
I were ambitious).

Perhaps the following inspirational true story will help you overcome
the brainwashing that has resulted in your believing falsely that
"hunger is bad:"

http://MabletonGA.OurLittle.net/DreadNought

So that you can go find good things to do that will make you hungrier
instead of finding things to eat between smaller meals:

http://HeartMDPhD.com/HolySpirit/overweight.asp

"Hunger is good."

Know this in your heart and the truth, Who is LORD Jesus Christ, will
cure you of your obesity.

May GOD continue to heal our hearts with HIS living water curing us of
obesity, depression, anxiety, and panic so that we can love our neighbors
a little more and LORD Jesus Christ a lot more, dear neighbors whom I
love unconditionally.

Prayerfully in Christ's amazing love,

The Gospel according to Luke is not an obscure gnostic text...

"Blessed are you who hunger now for you will be satisfied." -- LORD
Jesus Christ (Luke 6:21).

It's hard to say whether I "learned" anything as much as developed some
opinions about the similarities between early Christianity and
Buddhism. I also have some opinions about why certain texts were
included as canonical and others were not.

I know zilch about the gnostics, apart John Cage's quotation of Meister
Eckhart's "Split the stick. There is Jesus", which I manages to make
me feel good every time I passing think of it !

You lose a lot of weight very quickly when you fast, but after a few months
you tend to die from malnutririon. ;-)

Seriously, fasting is bad for losing weight. It sets up an emergency state
in the body, and many believe that entering such a state causes permanent
metabolic changes which make the body more prone to store plenty of fat, as
a survival mechanism to make it through the next "famine." That makes good
sense to me. I have fasted, once for ten days, and I felt good (fasting is
an extremely effective way of dealing with an opressively hot enviroment, I
found--your body decreases its metabolic rate so you're producing much less
heat and can therefore tolerate hot and humid climates much easier.)

> Read about it. Have a friend assist you in the

How exactly does one assist another in a fast?

> Your urge to eat will drop off after the third
> day

Yeah, right. I know from experiences that *hunger* vanishes after a day or
two of not eating, but hunger is not the same as the urge to eat. I often
have the urge to eat but rarely feel actual hunger.

That sounds dangerous. How did you get protein without any carbs or fats
anyway? Even lean meat has some fat in it.

Hey, that's MY diet! It has worked spectacularly well for me, if a BMI of
over 45 is considered a success.

I wuz wondering : does having a bypass mean you can eat all you want all the
time ? taste the food, feel it fill up a satisfied stomach, and exit
undigested through a purpose built trap door ?

Where's the trap door ?

Dave K

unread,

Hmm, sounds like intro-gastro-bullemia surgery...

Trap doors aside, people who have had the bypasses have to eat small,
frequent meals. That is of course, a healthy way to eat, in theory. Of
course this doesn't automatically yield a healthy diet. A person I
know who had this surgery continued to eat badly, but in small,
frequent meal, with no trap door.

I'd prefer a genetic alteration which would limit my body fat storage to 4%
of my body weight and resist the harmful effects of junk food.

Realistically, the bypass will force me to make certain changes. If I
overeat, I will receive instant negative reinforcement. That'll help me
train my brain away from the cycle of food=instant pleasure. It won't fix
anything, and it won't do anything for me that I can't in theory do for
myself, but it will help.

I've been trying to make healthier eating choices for 25 years. I'm tired
of trying to fight the urges and tired of trying to change and failing.
Don't know if the operation will help, but everyone I know who's had it
recommends it heartily.

I intend to supplement my diet with the juices of green leafy vegetables,
carrots and berries, probably a few other things as well. Malnutrition is a
common side effect because the part of the stomach that absorbs the most of
certain nutrients is bypassed.

Yep, flax oil. I know about EFAs. But I didn't know you needed to ingest
oil with the juices to absorb the vitamins and minerals in fruit and

In a post-modern, deconstructionist world, truth is open to
interpretation.

I am curious. Can you give a scriptural (cannonical or apocryphal)
reference where the Holy Spirit (not God or Jesus) actually says
anything? I know that the HS inspired people to speak, kind of put them
in the zone when they needed to say something big, but generally, those
things are attributed to the speaker, not the spirit. If you're just
making stuff up that the Holy Spirit said to you, we call that "hearing
voices," and it's generally considered a symptom of deep psychosis.

He does this daily to hundreds. You are not the first who is convinced

So, Jolana ate some extra food and it made her hungry later.

Then, she controlled herself with the addition of two powerful drugs.
Where 2lb insanity enters the picture, I have no idea. I say insanity,
because you maintain (falsely) that it is not a diet. So, for lack of
other words, let's call it the 2PD-OMER Insanity. It's catchy that way.

As I read this, for some reason, I kept thinking of Penthouse Forum.
Not for the ribald stories, but the implausibility of them. The
standard format is something like this:

"Dear Penthouse Forum,
I have read your magazine for years with great enjoyment, but never
thought I'd have anything to write you about. But the other day, I was
<insert 500-2000 word completely unlikely story of sex with multiple
partners, "that full feeling", odd locations, and either a wistful
ending bemoaning the transience of it all or a hopeful ending looking
forward to repeat performances>. "

At any rate, your tale of this superannuated, script free, ww2 vet,
while touching, has the same kind of dreamy, hopeful but likely BS,
feel to it. The rhythms of the text, the length of the story, the
progression of the narrative, all bear a striking resemblance to my
memory of Penthouse Forum.

Lastly, let's remember another portion of Mathew's testimony on the
Sermon on the Mount. The portion where Jesus suggested that the MEEK
are blessed, for they will inherit the earth. I do not discern one iota
of meekness in your manner Dr. Chung, so you will be left out of the
reward you think is coming to you. You might as well just pig out, and
put your food scale away. Without meek, you get zilch. And you sir, are
completely without meek.

-Hollywood, who will always think of Dr. Chung and Penthouse Forum
together.

Actually, when the Holy Spirit compels a person to speak, that person

My contention is that you do not know because you have entered with
certainty rather than an open mind. The very kind of person Jesus
railed against when he complained of Pharisees.

Truth: You are a jerk. Interpret as you will.

Let's just say that I am not willing to take the wisdom of people who
hadn't even invented the donkey steam engine and apply it to a world
with a very functioning Internet. Postmodernism is better suited for
post modern times. Preindustrialism is just a romantic notion for a
time that never really existed anyway.

I will thank you to do the following remove my "nom de guerre" from
your website. It is libelous since I have not been convicted in any
court that is commonly recognized with authority on this plane of
existance. If you fail to do this, I will be force to either contact
the proper authorities or retaliate in kind.

You have quoted the Holy Spigot. Generally, when you put words between
the single or double elevated commas, it is understood to be something
that a person or other character has said. Sometimes, in fiction,
thoughts can be conveyed in these "quotation marks" but generally, this
is the wrong usage. So, in fact, you have written that the HS spoke at
one point or another.

1- Remove my nom-de-guerre from your site.

When I get a summons from HIM, I will worry. Till then, you have a
messianic complex that is not only not appealing but probably likely to
end you up in a very hot spot, afterlife wise, assuming that such
nonsense could exist.

Let's allow GOD to do what HE pleases, heal who HE feels like Healing,
etc. Let's assume there is a GOD, in the mold that you believe. He
ministers EVERYTHING in the world and EVERYONE in it. All six billion
and change of us. He knows everything and can do anything. If he knows
that I am in need of his "living water," why do you have to ask for it
for me? If he's cruel and capricious, perhaps that's required. But if
he is truly just and perfect, my need for "living water" or anything
else is already sated, without your intercession.

Of course, since I wouldn't be in need of his water if he didn't have a
design for me in the first place (remember, nothing happens without
him, he does everything and knows everything), so your prayers aren't
going to move his will, throw off his design, by one iota. So, your
prayers on my behalf, your own behalf, or on anyone's behalf, are in
vain. If HE wanted it changes, it would be changed already. If HE has a
grand design, the prayers of a moronic whacko aren't gonna move him.
QED.

Lastly, assume an omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient being. You
praying to him for my health is like my wife's cat praying to my father
in law for cat treats. My FIL lives 900 miles away and wasn't
particularly interested in my wife's cat when they shared a roof. You
are the cat, God is my FIL, disinterested and remote, busy with bigger
things.

I, unlike unethical you, provided an explanation of what I deleted and

I guess you failed to read far enough down to where I PROVED that this
type of behavior (praying for some icky living water on my behalf) can
be nothing but ineffectual. Maybe you failed to follow. You definitely
failed to respond and failed to explain why you deleted it and why you
didn't answer it. I can fill in for you. You deleted it because it was
too much reality, too much sane thinking, that just might make you look
like an insane person (you are, so keeping up appearances to the
contrary is a waste of time). So, you deleted it. You didn't note it's
absence because admitted it ever existed punctures your convenient
little psychotic break. And answering it would have been impossible

makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the
Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage,
plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of
unborn children. I have included references to the Biblical passages, so
grab your Bible and follow along. ""

Clearly you remain a spammer.

Just another example of your hypocrisy.

Without the LORD, your opinion is meaningless (Ecclesiastes).

unconditional love they have for everyone including their enemies

A bolder person would not have shied away three times now.

I only sorta know.

at least one brother, supposedly somebody I've worked with, I haven't
bothered to specify for a name, probably some people I have forgotten.

I suppose I ought care.

I did good to decide last night to wear a tank top and shorts and not sweat
at a rock show.

"The dancing is impressive- although Fosse's choreography and costumes do
look very odd today. Pants suits? What were they thinking? And as another
reviewer noted, Liza is very obviously lip synching in the dnace numbers.
For diehard fans it's a must have, of course. For me, it's a bizarre
combination of an almost embarrasingly needy performer begging for
affection, along with a vivid reminder of wathing her mother's slow,
on-screen disintigration on her TV show and the old Jack Parr show back when
I was a child. "--Michael J Edelman
