Subject: false teaching, was The Passion of Christ
"Are you sure you're not just trying to stir up trouble by making a
mountain out of a mole hill?"

No, maintaining orthodox teaching is very important.  From not doing so
we get the mormans and the jehovah witnesses and the christian
scientists and many many other groups.  All were started by lone ranger
interpreters of scripture using only themselves as a reference.

"And just out of curiosity, what *do* the "communion of christians
[sic]" (who I guess must have sent you here as their representative)
think Jesus was teaching us with His cursing of the fig tree?"

There can be many interpretations and such have been offered.  But none
conclude that it means that trees have souls and free will.  One common
idea is the parable refers to israel.

"And what is so wrong in believing that without the love of God to
sustain them in being, all created things would simply cease to exist?"

Nothing, but the newly invented doctrine is not saying this but mixing a
doctrine of pagan animism with a private interpretation without
reference to the orthodox teachings of 2000 years.
