Description: The focus of this conference will be on enhancing
tuberculosis (TB) control efforts in California by building TB program
capacity through advocacy efforts and access to scientific advances. At
the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to recognize
the underlying causes of the ongoing TB epidemic and identify the easily
accessible but underutilized solutions; identify common radiographic
presentations of TB and describe the critical role of the radiologist in
diagnosing TB; describe three innovative tools used to advocate for TB
program resources; identify the best uses of media advocacy, community
coalition building, and legislative home visits and describe how to
implement these tools to inform TB policy; identify new diagnostic
tests, their application, and advantages and disadvantages, and describe
strategies likely to succeed in obtaining new testing modalities in
their jurisdiction; and describe the Class A/B Immigration process. On
April 28, the Francis J. Curry National Tuberculosis Center will be
offering their TB Update training course.
