Dear newsgroup:

Soon I will apply for positions in America particularly research positions.

Please deposit any comments you have about my research.

I do not have any letters of reference for my research , the only one I had
was in an open letter dated two years ago by Dr.Trim.

I am not requesting a letter again from him, only post it here.

Sincerely

Dr.M.Basti

The following is the open letter by Dr.Don Trim about my research.

Dr.Trim is a physicist (relativist) and applied mathematician. He has
written variety of excellent books in mathematics and applied mathematics
for undergraduate and graduate students in science and engineering.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To whom it may concern:

Dr. Mehran Basti has asked me to comment on the research work contained in
his paper "Exact Analysis".

The work divides into two main parts, both involving Ricatti differential
equations . First, Dr. Basti associates a Ricatti equation with any linear ,
second -order homogeneous differential equation. This leads to heretofore
undeveloped technique for solving linear differential equations---solve the
associated Riccati equation. In particular, Dr. Basti illustrates his
technique on associated Legendre equations with integer and noninteger
parameters. He also applies it to Bessel and modified Bessel differential
equations, as well as others, leading to closed form and series solutions.

While equivalent to standard power series solutions of Bessel equations, his
solutions are expressed in terms of trigonometric functions, a novel
representation that may prove useful in some applications.

In the other part of his work, he associates Riccati differential equations
with polynomial equations. Solutions of the associated Riccati equation
should lead to the solutions of the polynomial equation. He demonstrates the
technique by solving quadratic and cubic equations, and although the
solutions of associated differential equations for quartic and quintic
polynomials seem untractable in the general case, he illustrates classes of
quintics when solutions are indeed possible.

Dr. Basti's approach to the above problems is insightful, and his analyses
are innovative. He has supported his results with computer evaluations. I
believe that Dr. Basti is capable of making worthwhile contributions in this
area of research, and based on demonstrated originality, perhaps in other
areas as well.

Yours sincerely

Donald W. Trim,
Professor, Department of Mathematics
The University of Manitoba.

dear mehran, i have some bad news for you. oportunity in american
universities is driven by reference letters and other similar
non-sense, like student evaluations for teaching positions. if i were
you, i would just stay in canada, or wherever it is that you reside.

Dear newsgroup:

I have extensive teaching experience (and I consider myself an excellent
teacher), and we all know that teaching evaluations are subjective and also
manipulative by administrators.

About the research , Those dare to embark upon new avenues will face the
consequences.

Since I am initiating this new research, it is difficult for them to provide
the letters of reference, since I am the leader not them.

You see how easily they try to brush away two decades of my research on
classical mathematics.

I am at this time residing in Georgia, and would like to stay in America and
eventually find a way to initiate the new science, perhaps when I am
retired!.

But still is room for those to deposit the letters of reference if they
understand something here.

My lecture notes must come into light (not in the form of formal
publications).

Sincerely

Dr.M.Basti

Showing how these "new methods" work, since you're "the leader" of
these new mathematics might generate quite a few reference letters.
So, solve x^5+2x+1=0 with your "new methods".

Just think! Once you show the world how your new methods work you
won't have to teach at an art school anymore, you could rejoin real
academia once again with prestige...it's all up to you, we eagerly
await your work!

Dear newsgroup:

Well, once I get into an institution of teaching and research, I will start
writing my notes one by one.

The methods are there and will come into light.

Certainly heavy stone such as x^5+2*x+1=0, will not help.

Sincerely

Dr.M.Basti
