Steve posts hard data from well-designed and stringent studies, argues
emphatically about the *quite clear* results (maybe he argues too
emphatically for most; but what the hell, people's lives are at stake)
and in doing so gets slandered and has his *motives* questioned. If
life extension is to be scientifically-based, then anyone ingesting
deprenyl is taking a huge risk. I was thinking of trying the stuff,
after reading the glowing reports from CERI and LEF, among others, and
am glad Mr. Farmer took on this crusade and warned me about it. I'm
reassured that someone reads the published studies and doesn't just
swallow the hype.

Of all the defenses of deprenyl I've seen, none has refuted the facts
of the 3 major studies Steve has posted (again & again & again) and
most have taken to questioning his motives and making nebulous claims
about deprenyl's safety/efficacy/purity.

Grow up, people! If you want the life extension movement to gain any
respect, it must be based on rigid, controlled, scientific studies.
*True* scientists admit when they're wrong, and go forward.

Sheesh!

Thanks much. I'm feeling a bit battered. Note that the new letter by
"Paul Anacker" isn't by him (by Fowkes? Ward?). I'm trained in textual
analysis - a Latinist originally, really! - and I can spot stylistic
shifts like that pretty easily. Compare his last letter with the recent
one!

Funny! The stuff on who "funds me" is not funny. This has cost me a
bundle since I haven't gotten my own work done.

My best,

Steve

Oops. Big error. The following wasn't meant to be posted. It was supposed
to be sent only through private e-mail to a supporter. As to the
stylistic shifts in Anacker's recent posts, they are indeed very curious.
But I didn't mean to discuss that issue in public - please forget that
you read it. I've never figured out how to *unpost* using Netscape
Navigator 2.0 for the Mac. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

To clarify now what is unintentionally out in the open: I *don't* think
that someone else wrote the entire post. I *do* think that Anacker had
help in writing it. Styles do tell tales.
