I have 3 Mapsource products: Metroguide USA, Metroguide Europe and Topo USA.
The 2 metroguide products can be installed completely on the hard disk
through the setup program.
However, it looks like Topo USA does not offer that option.
Is there a way to manually copy the map files to a specific folder on my
harddisk to eliminate the need for using the CDs?
Thx,
Chris.

Yes, copy all of the files to a directory on your hard drive while
maintaining the directory structure of the CD. Then run setup using the
setup file on the hard drive.

Absolutely.

The following assumes you have already installed MapSource and there is
indeed a Registry entry.

1. Copy the map folders to the desired location on your HD.
2. Open the registry with RegEdit.
3. Use the Find... feature to located "Garmin."
4. Look for registers 6 and 7 and set the path to your map files:

Local Machine
Software
Garmin
MapSource
Products
6 (east)
Loc <- set path to location of img files)
7 (west)
Loc <- set path to location of img files)
8
9

I did not include the Hawaii and Alaska data sets to conserve disk
space.

It's alot easier than messing with the registry.

Copy all the Cd's to the Hard Drive.

Use setup to reinstall the program from the Hard drive location.

I have ALL my MapSource apps on the Hard drive (I hate putting CDs in
and out)

Works perfectly. !!!!
