Well hello all I'm new to this, I'd like a gps for marine use and that
alone. One that you mount in you boat and is powered by the power supply of
the boat. Not hand held. Haven't really got a grasp of what is good out
there but have been told by a friend that works on the coast guard NOT to
buy garman. He says that he is always having problems and I'd imagine that
he'd have a pretty good idea seeing that he uses the device everyday. I'd
like to get some more opinions however so I'm looking for all of your
support, thanks friends. PS. I live in Sydney, Australia so I'd prefer if I
could buy it here, however I'm able to get it from the U.S.A.
Many Thanks
Jerry B

I think your friend is a little out of date.

Have a look at the GPSmap176 and GPSmap176C
http://www.ja-gps.com.au/gpsprod_larger.html
AU$1350 for monocrome and AU$1550 for colour
