Hello,
I have a Magellan 315 GPS which I would like to connect to my PC and
Psion.
I looked for a cable in London but the cheapest was 49 pounds. I have
found it on a US
website for 20 dollars but the company wanted 45 dollars for
international postage.

Can anyone reccomemd the cheapest place to buy it? A US site which has
resonable international postage perhaps?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I know it's annoying to live in 'Rip-off Britain' but don't forget a
couple of points so as not to compare apples with oranges:

as well as postage/freight charges, you will also incur 17.5% VAT plus
duty which may be between 5% and 15% depending on what tariff code the
sender declares as.

what if the cable proves faulty or is damaged in transit? - unlikely I
know but possible - do you really want the cost and inconvenience of
shipping it back to the US then going through all the palaver of
persuading Customs not to charge duty etc again on the replacement?

When you add it all up, there may be some benefit in paying the premium
for local service and back-up.

I got mine from MailSpeed Marine in Warrington, I bought the barewire
version from them for about UKP15.

I was in the shop today and they were out of stock, but are expecting more
in tomorrow (Fri 17th).

Hello Chris,

why don't you make it yourself ?
Voltage : 3.2 to 3.6 volts according to Magellan
Data may be directly connected to your COM port
The only problem is the connector.
