What maks a Marine GPS?

Besides the obvious of fishfinders & depthsounders, what makes a
marine GPS unit marine? Beyond salt water resistance...

I mean, if I use Bluechart data with any mapping unit, are the
important features there? Or might it be crippled somehow?

I guess MOB could be kinda important. What else is there?

Proximity Alarms are very useful for marine use. In addition most
people find a need for a cross track error display when running routes.
this is often on a road display although not always. Some newer marine
units can display depth data, either from the charts or from the NMEA
input from a depth meter. Marine units may also have anchor alarms and
other specific marine features.
