Hi,
I have updated my 2720 via my laptop. Now I want to install the updated maps to my
desktop. I have the file, but when I try to install it, it wants to update the 2720
which takes quite a long time.

Is there anyway to just update MapSource data on my desktop?

Thanks,

Choco

I assume you're using the Numaps updates.

In my experience, I'd plug the GPS into the desktop. It'll install to the PC
first. While this is going on, unplug the GPS. This is what I did when
installing 2010.2 to my laptop. I'd installed on the desktop first.

IIRC, the 2010.3 update had a menu option for just updating the computer, but
it's been a couple of weeks and memory is the second thing to go.

When I updated the maps for the Nuvi I just bought it also automatically
updated the maps in MapSource, which Garmin said it would do as long as
I had MapSource already installed. I never did update the maps on my
2820 or 2610 so I don't know if it works different for them then it does
the Nuvi line. I would check with Garmin.

Thanks for the replies. I finally got through to Garmin. I was told that we have to go
through the time wasting process of loading the GPS again, then the computer.

I suggested the next update be fixed that we would not need to load theFTS twice.
