WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #70: NOVEMBER 29 - DECEMBER 6, 1992

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg. W):

Tropical Storm Gay: At the start of the summary period, ex-typhoon Gay
was moving north-northeast with 45 kt winds. The storm continued to weaken,
and it weakened to a depression on 30 November just before becoming extra-
tropical near 26N 131E. No new reports of damage or casualties from Gay
have come in since last weeks summary.

North Indian Ocean Basin:

Tropical Cyclone 11A: Tropical Cyclone 11A formed in the Arabian Sea
near 4N 79E on 30 November. Moving initially east-northeast, the system
gradually turned west-northwest as it reached tropical storm intensity on
1 December. A peak intensity of 50 kt was reached later that day. TC-11A
continued its west-northwest track on 2 December as it slowly weakened.
Rapid weakening set in on 3 December, and the system dissipated later that
day near 6N 74E.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone Joni (TC-03P): A tropical depression formed near 9S
179E on 5 December. Moving initially southeastward, the system turned south
along the International Dateline on 6 December as it reached tropical storm
intensity. At the end of the summary period, Joni was drifting south near
the Ellice Islands with 50 kt winds. There are no reports of damage or cas-
ualties so far.
