The Church of Scientology is opposed to many forms of healthcare.
Scientology is on trial in France, it may be shut down there as a
result of that trial.
Scientology is well known for its unorthodox scientific beliefs, such
as clams reproducing by spores, treating radiation sickness with
vitamins, cats having extraterrestrial DNA, and the presence of
locomotives on Venus.
Scientology uses vile propaganda to attack its enemies.
These same propaganda techniques are being used by its allies in a war
on your right to proper healthcare.
One of the leaders in this diabolical crusade is Larry Sarner. Sarner
was involved in a massive financial scandal involving voting machines.
In addition, he is a firm believer in many odd scientific theories. He
is a natural ally not only to Scientology but to right wing
organizations seeking to restrict access to healthcare.
Along with his wife, Linda Rosa, Sarner operates various hate and
propaganda websites discussing the torture of children! It is
surprising that Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, and Lynndie England are
not posting to these blogs!
Monica Pignotti has worked with Sarner and Rosa. She is a former
Scientologist. She is also former practitioner of Thought Field
Therapy and Voice Technology. She is no stranger to either quackery or
propaganda.
Pignotti has joined members of groups such as the Competitive
Enterprise Institute and Institute for Liberty in their attacks on
healthcare practitioners.
The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) has received large amounts
of money from the oil and tobacco industries. It employs various
“experts” with dubious credentials.
One is Myron Ebell. He admits to having no scientific training. Ebell
has, however, received six figure retainers from Exxon Mobil for his
work at CEi.
Then there’s John Berlau. Berlau is, at best, a journalist. He
believes many strange things. He believes DDT is good for the
environment. He believes that trees pollute more than cars. Like
Ebell, he has no scientific training. When asked some basic scientific
questions, the results were quite amusing. He believes that when a gas
is heated, it gets heavier!
Andrew Langer left CEI to form the Institute for Liberty. The IFL is
relentless in its attempts to silence all of its critics.
Langer showed his loyalty to CEI and Berlau when Berlau’s unsavory
activities with prostitutes were disclosed. Langer spared no effort in
trying to put a favorable spin on Berlau’s fixation on Korean massage
parlors.
Also formerly with CEI is Brooke Oberwetter, daughter of Bush-
appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia, James Oberwetter. Brooke left
CEI to form a “telecommunications consultancy” called DC Signal. DC
Signal never got off the ground! A nice chunk of investment money from
the House of Saud makes sure she gets her latte, however.
Jean Mercer holds a Ph.D. in psychology but has never held a license.
She has authored various publications with Sarner, Rosa, and Pignotti.
She writes blogs for Psychology Today that reflect the CEI/IFL anti-
healthcare viewpoint. When people have posted to these blogs
questioning Mercer’s motivation and credentials, who jumps in to
defend her? Sarner, Rosa, and Pignotti!
A very interesting colleague of these people is Charly D. Miller.
Miller describes herself as a retired paramedic.
Miller’s website frequently contains copyrighted material. The owners
of this material have had to resort to legal means to force Miller to
remove it, as she ignores polite requests to do so.
For this reason, Miller is in the process of rehosting her site in
Dubai, with, of all things, a Halliburton affiliate!
