Wasn't analog TV AM modulation ?
I'm trying to figure what to look for in possible noise products from a nearby tower
going to start broadcasting digital on 13. The old
analog signal produced a lot of demodulated buzzing in
certain equipment.

Yes and no. The visual was AM, the aural was FM. The buzzing you heard was
probably the sync signals which were sent at peak power.

Well it was really being demodulated by the diode detector
or just the front end of an audio op-amp. This same effect
occurs in many devices not intended on receiving TV.

I first noticed or was direted to the problem when a person
could not get his modem to work which was in a window
facing the tower, about 400-500 feet away. Two new buildings
were then built using aluminum backed drywall to minimize tower
RF problems in sensitive research equipment. Everbody
in research is still being made to constantly move around to other areas or
buildings not protected. I just need to make measurments.
