why are there so many test groups listed under newsgroups?

Steve - can you better define what is being said ?

News groups are controlled by companies and people and domains...

Some are company only. Some are in general. Each and every one
can have and propose to world what ever.

That is why various hate ones and nasty names and dirty ones there -
created and put into a University or small company and uploaded.....

While with one very large and Internet origin type company - we had
many internal ones, group level and company wide and network wide.
(we were the backbone that many large and important / government
nets merged with us due to our very wide and up net.)

Because they are free..so the more the better....right?
