Where can I find data on conversion of from "classic" color notation
systems (such as RAL 840 R and Munsell 1929) to a universal system
such as CIE:XYZ or sRGB?

Many historical sources provide reference to colors based on these
earlier notation systems. I need to represent these colors digitally.

I have found many sources online, that provide data for such a
translation, but they're almost always based on later versions of the
systems in question, such as RAL 840 HR or Munsell Renotation. Many
times, the same codes refer to different colors in the older system vs
the newer one.

For example:

- Munsell 1929 code 10P(P-RP) 6/4 may refer to a different color than
Munsell Renotation code 10P 6/4.
- RAL 840 R code 8020 may refer to a different color than RAL 840 HR
code 8020.

What exactly did you find, so far ?

Do you know the data in Wyszecki & Stiles (W & S) ?

There is IMO indeed much confusion, for instance for the Munsell
colors in W & S, which seem to have lost any relevance for real
world surface colors.

Real Munsell colors don't have IMO more chroma than about 14.
