Senior Scientist in biotech

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities:

* Independently identify, develop and optimize processes for
manufacturing pharmaceuticals, mainly solid oral dosage forms but also
oral liquids and soft-gel dosage form process development may be
required.

* Ensure that a thoroughly scientific and technical approach is used
to develop a mechanistic understanding of critical parameters and
performance attributes in order to establish the design space and
controls for a robust process

* Conduct research into processes and techniques of relevance to
pharmaceutical manufacture aimed at developing a mechanistic
understanding of functional relationships among formulation
composition, process parameters, material characteristics and product
performance

* Research, identify and evaluate new technologies for processing of
poorly soluble drugs.

* Prepare and execute scientific experimental plans and protocols,
document results and prepare reports in compliance with relevant
company and regulatory requirements.

* Acts as the department representative and communicates the line
recommendations to the project team and reports back the project team
decisions to the line management

* Responsible for technical report quality and preparation in a timely
manner. Maintains publication/presentation/patent record as
appropriate for discipline.

* Keeps abreast of relevant literature; Develops visibility outside of
functional area

* Assumes responsibility for direct reports as needed including
recruiting, managing, mentoring and developing scientific staff

* Contributes to departmental administration; Demonstrates fiscal
responsibility with respect to cost of experiments, technology,
external collaborations, and travel

* Represents Pharmaceutical Development at internal and external
technical meetings

* Some travel required in support of process development and transfer
(~ 15%)

Requirements:

* Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy or related
field.

* Ph.D with 2+ years experience in pharmaceutical process development,
technology transfer, and/or process validation for solid oral dosage
forms. Experience with Soft-Gel process development a plus.
