Description: Fixing electronic equipment.

KIP 2900 - Anyone here repair these in the past and has info on them?
Looking for the upgrade Eprom for the 2021 scanner to enable it to run with revision 5.5.x of the software on XP. This machine has a proprietary interface card (KIP6CP - which is a PCI card), so it is not running on SCSI or USB in case you are curious. KIP says to contact my local dealer, and the dealer isn't interested in... more »

How can a toll-free number fail on landlines & VOIP but not on cellphones?
Telephonically, can anyone explain what is going on? [link] I'm trying to call ZTE Customer Support USA, during normal business hours, which has only one toll-free telephone number, which is listed at [link] as: 1-877-817-1759 Inexplicably, every time I call that toll-free number from a... more »

Dell - A720/A920 black ink cartridge.
Since I had a syringe of black printer ink that worked just fine on a Canon 250i, I decided to try filling the cartridge on my Dell A920. Its gone from streaky printing - to printing completely blank pages. Is this a problem of priming the nozzles - or incompatible inks gumming up the works?... more »

Digistrobe from Power Instrumnts
Looking for repair info. Like a schematic. The digitl display lights up but no strobe. Probably vintage about 1964. No other model number or S/N just Digistrobe. Two circuit boards, one for the display and frequency cintrol. Another board has the strobe lamp plugged into an octal socket and some trigger circuitry. Two bad electrolytic caps. Voltage doubler maybe. The unit was stored for about three years and the caps failed after storage. Maybe just old caps but maybe something more.... more »

OTA broadcasts being phased out?
I have heard from sources, (perhaps not reliable ones) that there has been talk of phasing out OTA broadcasts in the United States. Switching just about everything to UHF and making all our tuners useless was bad enough but this would be the ultimate slap. Has anyone heard anything to this effect? Lenny... more »

Can a loose connection lead to a blown mains fuse?
800 watt toroidal transformer operating at say 400 watts. Secondaries lead to conventional bridge rectifier and smoothing caps for +/- rails. A break appears in the DC rails central 0V return to the transformer, could that lead to a blown mains fuse, via inductive action?
