SONY Vid Cam CCD-F401 Video Problem

I have this a few times it is caused by the lock/stanby switch not working
correctly ( the one near the thumb push) this switch will only work when in
camera mode and does not affect the camera in playback , it is not pushed
across far enough or the micro switch has broken leaving it in the lock
position

The"STAND-BY" switch may be bad....if it is good look for D&D converter
problems or bad caps on any of the boards.

The VTR/CAM switch on the top board may have dirty contacts, you can try
spraying tuner cleaner & moving the switch back & forth, try taking the
switch apart & cleaning the contacts with an eraser pencil or do what I do,
replace it with Sony P # 1-572-283-11.
Possible it could be another problem also, these units are failing all the
time because of surface mount capacitor problems. Got 3 to rebuild this
week.
