I have a goldstar CF28C28F tv with a black screen but sound and menu & text
graphics ok. It's got no picture with a scart input either so I guess it's
not the tuner.
Any ideas?

Kind Regards

Quick Fix

Hi, Steve. Give us more clues please!
What do you get when you elevate the G2 voltage?
Are the width and the height OK with NO shrinkage (causes blanking) ?
Does brightness, contrast or color adj. have any effect ?
Does the set have video output jack which you can monitor or scope?
When you try to change channel does OSD indicate the new number?
Any picture if you apply video signal to the luma in and out of the IC ?
What is the number on the signal processor (jungle) IC?
What is the age of the set?

Roger.

Thanks for your response.
I have answered your questions below.
Any help would be much appreciated.
The chassis is a PC58A if that helps.
Kind Regards

> What do you get when you elevate the G2 voltage?

------ No effect just brighter graphics.

> Are the width and the height OK with NO shrinkage (causes blanking) ?

------- Yes on screen menus appear normal size with no shrinkage or EW
distortion.

> Does brightness, contrast or color adj. have any effect ?

------- Only to the text and graphics which are displayed on a black
background.

> Does the set have video output jack which you can monitor or scope?

------- Yes it does have a scart socket but I have not checked if video
out is connected.
If it is I will try scoping it after the holiday.

> When you try to change channel does OSD indicate the new number?

-------- Yes!

> Any picture if you apply video signal to the luma in and out of the IC ?

-------- Not tried yet but a good idea. I will try it as soon as I source
a cct diagram and can confirm pins.

> What is the number on the signal processor (jungle) IC?

-------- TDA 8376. Vid in seems to be pin 13 and there is a sandcastle
pulse at pin 39. Someone had already changed this ic along with ic3001- TDA
8350Q before giving up and handing the repair to me.

> What is the age of the set?

-------- About 3 years.

Hi. Scope the luma in pin 27 and out pin 28 of TDA8376.

I'm sure that's the kind of advice he's looking for. Did you look for video out at the R G and B outputs on the demodulator chip? You can measure the voltages with a meter but you're better off looking at them with a scope. I've changed quite a few demodulator chips. Lenny
